NFL's Baker Mayfield On Most Important Lesson In College: 'Don't Run From Cops'

NFL's Baker Mayfield told the media that his most important lesson in college was 'don't run from cops'

Berea, OH – Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was asked by a reporter what he thought the most important thing he learned while at the University of Oklahoma.

“Don’t run from cops,” Mayfield quipped as the press corps broke out in laughter, according to OU Daily.

The quip from Mayfield was a response to a 2017 run-in the National Football League quarterback had while playing for the Sooners.

Mayfield was arrested Feb. 25, 2017 in the early morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas, according to the Washington Post.

A person who was yelling at Mayfield that morning flagged down a police officer. Mayfield was stopped and told by the officer to stay at the scene. Instead, Mayfield began yelling and acting disorderly, according to the police report.

The football player suddenly started to run away and was chased down by police, according to the Washington Post. Dash cam video showed Mayfield being tackled by police into a wall (video below).

Mayfield, who is 6-foot-1, was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, fleeing and resisting arrest.

He reached a plea deal June 14 where he had to pay $300 in fines, $160 in court costs and $483.20 in restitution, according to the Washington Post. reported that Mayfield signed a four-year, $32.68 million deal in 2018 with the Browns that included a $21.85 million signing bonus.

Mayfield was the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He played in 14 games in his rookie year and led the Browns to a 6-7 record. He threw for 3,725 yards with 27 TDs and 14 interceptions.

In college, Mayfield played one year at Texas Tech in 2013 before transferring to Oklahoma. In three years at Oklahoma, Mayfield led the Sooners to a 34-6 record.

Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy in his senior year in 2017 after finishing fourth in 2015 and third in 2016.

How many times has Mayfield been sacked, I know of at least one time. lol

Dumb ass.....hahahaha.. Now that's funny!!!

His teammates told him running was the best option, but they were running backs!

DUH....It’s pretty much common sense! Drunk, or not! Sad that so many today LACK ANY. And just reap what they sow for themselves as a result.
Teaching kids they are ‘entitled’ &/or ‘privileged’, doesn’t help either.
