NFL Player Smokes Weed On Livestream, Says He's Quitting Over Marijuana Policy

NFL player David Irving smokes a joint on Instagram as he says he is quitting the NFL

Dallas, TX - Dallas Cowboys’ defensive lineman David Irving said he was quitting the National Football League over its policy on marijuana use as he appeared to smoke the devil's lettuce on Instagram.

In the 20-minute video, Irving complained about playing in the NFL and defended his use of marijuana, according to USA Today. (Video below)

“Basically guys, I quit," Irving said in the video. "They want to talk about a suspension and all this other nonsense. I’m outta there. I’m not doing this s--t anymore.”

“How many NBA players you see getting in trouble about this? How many coaches you see getting in trouble about this? How many baseball players getting in trouble? How many UFC players getting in trouble? Not many, but you do see us football players,” he said.

According to the New York Post, Irving was holding a joint in the video when he said, “Pass the blunt, bro. Weed … you’re addicted to this, and that. I mean, s--t, if I’m going to be addicted to something, I’d rather it be marijuana, which is medical. It’s medicine. I do not consider it a drug, rather than the Xanax bars or the hydros or the Seroquel and all that crazy s--t that they feed you.”

In another part of his video, Irving said, “I’ll Kaepernick myself before they Kaepnernick my a--.”

Irving was referring to the suspicion that the NFL blackballed former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Irving had signed a one-year, $2.9 million contract with the Cowboys for the 2018 season. He is currently a free agent.

On March 1, the NFL suspended Irving indefinitely for violating the league’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, according to NFL.com. It was Irving’s third suspension of his career. Irving, 25, was banned for the first four games of the 2017 and 2018 seasons, NFL.com reported.

Irving played college football at Iowa State. He played four years with the Cowboys. His best season was 2017 when he played in just eight games but still had seven sacks, which was second highest on the team despite missing half the season.

This seems to be the standard of many of our ball players today. Great role models! I definitely want my son to follow in these NFL players' shoes and be just like them when they grow up - kneeling during the national anthem, anti-LE, smoking pot and doing other drugs, beating their wives or girlfriends, shooting those they get in arguments with.....

No big loss as I see it, did you ever play a full season? I don't think so, the NFL is better off.
