NFL Free Agent Busted For Third DUI In Seven Years
Gig Harbor, WA - National Football League free agent Austin Seferian-Jenkins was allegedly drunk, high on marijuana, and speeding when he was arrested March 9 for driving under the influence.
It was Seferian-Jenkins’ third DUI arrest with the others coming in 2013 and 2016, according to TMZ.
The police said that Jenkins was speeding at 48 mph in a 30 mph zone at about 1 a.m. while Seferian-Jenkins was swerving in his 2016 Dodge Charger, TMZ reported.
Seferian-Jenkins almost turned into a wrong-way off ramp before he cut across several lanes of traffic and didn’t use his turn signal.
When the police officer stopped Seferian-Jenkins the officer smelled alcohol and burnt marijuana.
Seferian-Jenkins told the police officer that he was going to McDonald’s to get some food. The police officer noted Seferian-Jenkins’ eyes were red and bloodshot.
When Seferian-Jenkins got out of the car and, while standing still, police said he swaying in circles, TMZ reported.
Seferian-Jenkins refused to take a sobriety test and was arrested, TMZ reported.
He didn’t have the court-ordered ignition interlock device in his car, according to the Gig Harbor Police Department.
The NFL free agent was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and operating his car without its court-ordered ignition interlock device.
In 2016, Seferian-Jenkins was stopped for driving 25 mph over the speed limit at 4 a.m. and cutting off a police officer, according to TMZ. He refused a blood alcohol test and was arrested.
Seferian-Jenkins has made $9.5 million over his six seasons.
He played college football at the University of Washington. In the NFL, he played for Tampa Bay, the New York Jets and Jacksonville. His best year was 2017 with the Jets. That year he caught 50 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns.
