NFL Coach Arrested For Ramming Ex-Wife's Car As She Drove Down Road

Ex-nfl player Marlon McCree was arrested for the attack.

Jacksonville, FL - A former National Football League player and current assistant coach was arrested after a car chase with his ex-wife in which he rammed his truck into her SUV.

Marlon McCree, a former safety in the NFL and an assistant coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was arrested last Saturday evening on charges of simple assault and aggravated battery, according to KTRK-TV.

A police report says that McCree’s ex-wife had a protection order against him and went to a police station Saturday to report past domestic violence incidents.

The ex-wife told the police that McCree was waiting for her when she left the police station.

She said that she tried to leave with her mother, but McCree followed them in his truck and rammed them several times.

The ex-wife said they were able to get away from McCree by running several red lights, according to KTRK.

McCree, 41, was released from jail when he posted bail on Sunday, KTRK reported.

McCree was divorced in 2015. He has three children with his ex-wife.

The NFL approved a domestic violence policy in 2017.

Under that policy, anyone found in violation of the policy can be banned up to six games on the first domestic violence offense and can face a lifetime ban on the second incident.

McCree played eight seasons in the NFL with Jacksonville, Houston, Carolina, San Diego, and Denver.

He is well known for a fumble in a 2007 playoff game with the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers were 14-2 that year and playing the Patriots and leading 21-13 with 6:16 left in the game.

McCree intercepted New England Patriot Tom Brady’s pass but fumbled the ball while trying to return it.

New England went on to score 10 unanswered points to win the game.
