Milwaukee, WI - Former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke said a “diaper wearing lefty” attempted to get his Twitter account shut down on Saturday after he tweeted about attacking the liberal media.
Twitter determined the tweet did not violate their rules against promoting violence.
“BREAKING NEWS! When LYING LIB MEDIA makes up FAKE NEWS to smear me, the ANTIDOTE is go right at them. Punch them in the nose & MAKE THEM TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD. Nothing gets a bully like LYING LIB MEDIA’S attention better than to give them a taste of their own blood. #neverbackdown [media],” Clarke tweeted.
Clarke was responding to a tweet from a Detroit News reporter about a series of articles the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote about a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigation involving him and an airline passenger with whom he had an encounter.
Then-Sheriff Clarke said he was on a flight on Jan. 15, 2017, when Dan Black tried to intimidate him by standing menacingly over Clarke while the sheriff was seated.
The sheriff texted ahead, and Black was met by deputies when he deplaned at the Milwaukee airport.
Deputies detained Black, questioned him, and then led him out of the airport.
He sued Clarke in February of 2017, alleging that Clarke started the confrontation, and deprived him of his rights by having him detained and interrogated.
In May, the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) said they were not acting on the complaint.
Their letter stated it would be “difficult or impossible” to prove a federal violation occurred.
On Dec. 29, 2017, Detroit News reporter Richard Snell posted a tweet that announced he’d discovered the FBI had sought a warrant to get Clarke’s email address.
But the warrant he was reporting on was issued on March 21, 2017, and the DoJ had said there was no investigation ongoing in May of 2017.
In response, Clarke posted a series of tweets attacking the media for its coverage of the January 2017 incident.
“Winning against LYING LIB MEDIA and Whiney SNOWFLAKES again,” he tweeted Dec. 30. “Like @realDonaldTrump said, we’ll win so much we’ll get tired of winning. Not yet however. Diaper wearing lefty didn’t like my metaphor reference to punching LYING LIB MEDIA in the nose. Twitter said no violation. Duh.”
And Clarke continued his Twitter assault on New Year’s Eve.
“Apparently @businessinsider didn’t get the memo. FAKE NEWS. I am NOT UNDER FBI INVESTIGATION. It’s great theater but FAKE NEWS. Maybe they can’t read. Maybe they don’t want to!” Clarke tweeted Dec. 31, 2017.
“LYING LIB MEDIA and liberals, do I have you attention yet or do you want more?” Clarke tweeted the same day under a meme of John Wayne that stated, ‘I’m here to kick-a** and drink whiskey, and pilgrim, I’m all out of whiskey.’
“Love John Wayne. An AMERICAN icon and PATRIOT,” Clarke posted.
Black has filed a civil rights lawsuit in federal court that remains pending.
