Milwaukee Driver Shoots 2 Kids For Throwing Snowballs At Car
Milwaukee, WI – Police said an enraged driver opened fire on kids in Milwaukee who threw snowballs at his car on Saturday night.
The incident occurred just before 7:50 p.m. on Jan 4 when a group of juveniles were throwing snowballs at passing vehicles, WTVD reported.
When snowballs struck the man’s car at North 61st and West Birch Streets in Milwaukee, the driver started shooting at the kids, WISN reported.
A 12-year-old girl was shot twice and a 13-year-old boy was struck once in the arm.
Both were transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition, WTVD reported.
"All I heard was just the shots, I just heard the shots. It was so close," said Ravell Davis, who lives on the street where the shooting occurred.
Davis told WISN that he told his children to get down when he heard the gunfire.
“Me and my wife, we got six kids, we in the kitchen all of the sudden you hear all these loud booms, so I actually told everybody to get down," he said.
Another neighbor described having heard as many as five gunshots, WISN reported.
Davis was shocked when he learned that the shooting was the result of snowballs thrown at a car by children, WTVD reported.
There was barely enough snow left on the ground to make snowballs after a warm spell melted everything the prior week.
"That's what happened? A snowball?" Davis asked with a both surprised and horrified look on his face when he was told what happened.
Officers are reviewing Housing Authority surveillance video footage to see if they can find anything that will aid in their investigation, WTVD reported.
Police have not released a description of the gunman.
"It's getting bad, you know, it's ridiculous when you look outside and the front and side of your house is taped off," Davis told WISN. "It's getting real crazy now."
