NFL player Xavien Howard was arrested on domestic battery charges over a fight involving the purchase of a purse

Davie, FL – Pro Bowl defensive back Xavien Howard was arrested on domestic battery charges on Sunday night over a fight over the purchase of a purse by his fiancé.

The Miami Dolphin cornerback is accused of grabbing the mother of his three children and pushing her against a mirrored glass wall in their home and causing her to fall on his crutches, according to ESPN.

A police officer saw scratches and redness on the victim's right wrist and forearm from Howard allegedly grabbing her and the woman had an abrasion and redness from her fall, ESPN reported.

Howard made $15.2 million in 2019 despite playing in just five games this season due to a knee injury. He has made $20.1 million through his first four seasons in the NFL.

TMZ reported that the judge ordered Howard to have no contact with the woman he allegedly attacked. Howard’s bond was set at $3,000.

Howard, 26, was processed at the Davie Police Department and then taken to a local hospital after he complained about knee pain from recent surgery, ESPN reported.

Howard has been on injured reserve since October due to his knee injury.

"We are aware of the situation and currently gathering information," the Dolphins said, according to ESPN. "We will have no further comment at this time."

Miami Dolphins Head Coach Brian Flores said the team takes the charges against Howard seriously.

"We're still gathering information on that. We take situations like that very, very serious. We're gathering information. It's unfortunate," Flores said, according to ESPN. "How does it impact us? It does impact us. … It's too early to tell. I haven't even talked to him. We have a process here."

In May, Howard signed a five-year, $75.25 million contract extension with the Dolphins, according to ESPN. That contract is set to expire in 2024.

The only way I would pay the ticket to get into an NFL game is if they let me take in a sniper rifle.

She'd be smart to dump him, get child support and live in peace with a restraining order on him. That assault over a purse will cost him far more in the long run. What an idiot he is.

Every day I open my email and read this newsletter which breaks my heart because there are inevitably stories about officers being killed or commiting suicide. Then I read this type of story and it really pisses me off. How is it that our heroes have to fight for every cent they make while these common street thugs make millions for doing NOTHING? There is something terribly wrong with the values people have in this country as to who their heroes are. I am so glad I grew up in a different time and worked in law enforcement when being an officer was still an honorable and respected profession.
