Vail, CO – Metallica frontman James Hetfield set out for his local police department and fire hall on Wednesday and Thursday to deliver gifts to the public safety personnel who serve his community.
“All funds raised will be donated to a cross-section of national and local charities,” the site read. “Every penny from your donations will go directly to our charity partners.”
The Metallica-themed gift cards Hetfield gave to Vail’s first responders are a part of that fundraising effort.
All Within My Hands was one of three charities that recently teamed with Spotify and Starbucks to raise funds for various causes, Loudwire reported.
Spotify and Starbucks have agreed to split $1 million between three charities, Ultimate Classic Rock reported.
“The Mission Continues empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact,” the nonprofit’s website read.
“Our operations in cities nationwide deploy veteran volunteers alongside non-profit partners and community leaders to solve some of the most challenging issues facing our communities: improving community education resources, eliminating food deserts, mentoring at-risk youth and more," The Mission Continues wrote.
After his visit, the Vail Police Department took to Twitter to thank Hetfield for his generosity.
Hetfield moved to his wife’s hometown of Vail in 2016.
"I love the ocean, and I love the Bay Area, I love what it's got to offer, but there's just an attitude that it was ... It wasn't healthy for me. [I was] starting to feel like I was just fighting all the time, and I just had to get out of my own head. So Colorado does it for me," Hetfield told Loudwire.
