Hampton, VA - A police officer in full uniform was reportedly refused service at a Hampton McDonald's after making him wait 26 minutes.
We received a tip which pointed us to the Facebook page of a police officer's wife.
Emily Belbin Bond out of Virginia Beach, Virginia posted the following message on Facebook the night of Thursday night. So disgusted!!!
So my husband, who is a Police Officer, had completed his normal workday and was halfway thru an additional assignment that he took on for extra pay when he decided to go through the drive-thru of the McDonald's, (Store #1796) located at the corner of W. Mercury and Coliseum, to grab a quick bite to eat. After waiting in line for 26 minutes when he pulled up to the drive thru window to pick up his food the employee (Ralph) looked at him in disgust and actually called another employee over and said to her, "I just can't, I'm allergic." My husband asked why after waiting in line for 26 minutes the employee couldn't hand him his food. The employee then handed my husband's bag of food off to a female employee and relayed to my husband, "I'm allergic!"
REALLY!!?? My husband or anyone else in my family will NEVER go to this McDonalds again after the level of unprofessionalism and rudeness that was displayed by one of their employees who refused to serve my husband simply because of the police uniform that he was wearing!
We are still waiting to hear back from McDonald's with an official response. We are unfortunately are seeing more and more of these incidents where officers are being refused service because of the uniform on their back. Companies will frequently respond to this sort of thing appropriately, but they sometimes fall short. We'll keep you updated when we get a response.
