Davenport, Fla. – The mayor of Davenport, Florida was arrested for using handicap placards from dead people to park in handicap spots.
Deputies reported that they witnessed Bradley parking the spots, hanging the tag on her rearview mirror and removing it when she left for the day.
“Video was also obtained of Mayor Teresa Bradley exiting the vehicle with no assistance, removing a large wheeled brief/suit case from the trunk and walking into the city hall meeting without assistance,” according to her arrest affidavit, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
When deputies searched her home, they found two handicapped placards meant for two different people. Both those people were dead. One of the placards expired in 2013 but was altered to say it expired in 2018.
“We expect our elected officials to set the proper example. She not only violated the law, she embarrassed the citizens of Davenport with her illegal conduct,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, according to WFTV.
The TV station reported that Bradley is facing charges of criminal use of a deceased person’s identification, possession of a counterfeit decal and unlawful use of a handicapped placard.
The mayor was booked into the Polk County Jail and released on a $2,250 bond.
Many on social media were outraged.

“Another politician who thinks laws were not written for them,” said a Gary Webster.
“Really,” posted a Asada Kimbo. “Who does this!! Like why? So many questions!!!”
