Man Who Assaulted Teen In MAGA Hat Gets Identified, Arrested For Felony

The 30-year-old man who assaulted a teen in a Make America Great Again hat was arrested on Thursday.

Universal City, TX – The irate man who attacked a 16-year-old boy over his red Make America Great Again hat in a Whataburger restaurant has been arrested.

Kino Jimenez, 30, became famous in a now-viral cell phone video that showed him harassing and assaulting a teen boy for supporting President Donald Trump on July 3, and then stealing the boy’s hat.

The San Antonio Police Department said Jimenez was apprehended by Universal City police late on Thursday, according to FOX News.

He was booked on a felony “theft of person” warrant and was released after he posted $5,000 bond, according to the news outlet.

The attack took place on Tuesday night, when Hunter Richard and two of his friends went to a Whataburger restaurant to get a bite to eat, WOAI reported.

As the trio was sitting at a table, a stranger - later identified as Jimenez -walked over and grabbed Richard’s pro-President Trump hat off of his head.

Richard said Jimenez also tore out some of his hair during the unprovoked attack.

The irate man then picked up a drink from the teens’ table and threw it onto Richard, the viral video showed.

“I support the president,” Richard said calmly as Jimenez doused him with the boy’s cap held firmly in his other hand.

“You ain’t supporting s--t, n----r,” the man retorted. “You b---h -ss mother--ker.”

Jimenez stormed off, glancing at the hat in his hand before he announced his next move.

“This is gonna go great in my f--king fireplace, b---h!” he yelled over his shoulder.

“Alright, have fun with it,” Richard replied.

The shocked teens sat in stunned amazement as Jimenez marched out of the restaurant.

"I support my President, and if you don’t, let’s have a conversation about it instead of ripping my hat off,” Richard later told WOAI. “I just think a conversation about politics is more productive for the entire whole rather than taking my hat and yelling subjective words to me.”

Richard said he would like to have a conversation with Jimenez to “come to some sort of an agreement or neutral ground,” the San Antonio Express-News reported.

On Thursday, Donald Trump, Jr. issued a tweet offering to send Richard a new Make America Great Again hat, complete with the president's autograph.

In addition to his arrest, Jimenez was also fired from his part-time position at Rumble bar in San Antonio, the business said in a since-deleted Facebook post.

The Harris County Green Party, with whom Jimenez was affiliated, condemned the attack on Richard, Heavy reported.

“We all have different opinions of our president, but we don’t take it out on innocent kids who just happen to have a hat on,” Green Party Secretary Gavino Zarate said in an interview with Heavy. “You may not like the hat or you may not like the President, but you don’t show that kind of aggression toward teenagers. It goes against everything the Green Party stands for.”

“From our point of view, he is banned from being part of our organization,” Zarate added. “What Kino has [allegedly] done out of his own will, he has really shed a negative light on our party.”

Whataburger also released a statement about the unprovoked attack on Thursday.

“We were shocked to see this video and certainly don’t condone this type of customer behavior in our restaurants,” the statement read, according to KENS. “To be clear, no Whataburger employees were involved or witnessed the incident.”

This isn't a hate crime. You can't make up your own definitions.

I can think of several things to do to that nasty savage that would make a "lasting" impression on him. With that said, it's not wise to wear a MAGA cap unless you're ready and able to defend yourself with overwhelming force.

If this guy was white and the victim was NOT it would be a hate crime and jail time. I hate the double standards and this yaa hoo was let out with bail so low that he can go around and do it again. Hispanic name and this kid could have jumped up and defended himself from his attacker. Next time this idiot could slit a throat. thank you judge for letting him go with so little bail.

an assault charge would require an injury as defined by law, which requires a certain level of pain or something along those lines. Having a few hairs pulled out and drink tossed on you is not sufficient for an assault charge. In some states, it can be harassment or an unwanted touching, but those are usually just minor violations. The felony charge is more appropriate.
