Man Shot In Crotch, Arrested After Breaking Into Ex-Girlfriend's Home
Grants Pass, OR – A woman shot her ex-boyfriend in the crotch after he forced his way into her house early Monday morning.
The incident occurred at about 12:55 a.m. on March 11 when 32-year-old Michael Lee Fouch showed up at his former girlfriend’s home in the 1700-block of Rogue River Highway, according to a press release posted on Grants Pass Department of Public Safety’s official Facebook page.
Police said the woman called 911 to report the intrusion, and that she told dispatchers Fouch had threatened her in the past. She also said he had made threats just before he arrived at her house.
The 31-year-old woman was still on the phone with dispatchers when they heard a single gunshot, according to the Grants Pass press release.
Police said Fouch forced entry into the bedroom where the woman was hiding with her juvenile son.
The woman feared for the safety of the child and herself, and so she fired a single gunshot at Fouch, according to the press release.
Fouch was struck by the bullet, and he fled the house.
When police arrived, officers found the suspect in the driveway with a single gunshot wound to the groin, Grants Pass police said.
Officers provided emergency first aid until the ambulance arrived. At that point, medics took over and Fouch was transported to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.
His wound was not life-threatening, according to police.
The suspect was treated at the hospital, and then transported to the Josephine County Jail.
Fouch was charged with fourth degree felony assault/domestic violence and menacing/domestic violence, according to the press release.
His bail has been set at $25,000, KCBY reported.
