Man Murders Wife In Front Of Her Children, Gets Shot By Police
Las Vegas, NV – A man was fatally shot last Friday by the Las Vegas police, after he shot and killed his wife with their young children in the house.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Captain Christopher Little said a 16-year-old boy called 911 at 12:10 a.m. to report that his stepfather had shot his mother, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
There were three additional children under age of 10 with the teen at the residence when the stepfather shot the mother. The children were not injured.
When police arrived, they entered the residence and found a woman dead from gunshot wounds.
The 16-year-old boy told police his mother was shot by his stepfather and that the stepfather left their home with a firearm. The teen had attempted to perform CPR on his dying mother, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Child Protective Services was called to the scene, and police initiated a search for the man, who had fled in a white 2005 Chrysler Sebring after shooting his wife.
More than two hours later, police found the suspect sitting alone in his vehicle only a block from the home where he had murdered his wife.
When police approached and tried to speak to the suspect, the man exited the car with a gun in his right hand, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Police ordered the man to drop his weapon multiple times, but he would not comply. He was shot by two police officers.
The man was struck multiple times, and died at the scene, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Police did not release the name of the suspect or the woman he murdered. Authorities were investigating whether the couple had any history of domestic violence.
