Man Arrested After Rape Of Juvenile Was Overheard In Playstation Game
New Port Richey, FL – An accused rapist’s attack on a 15-year-old girl was transmitted through his video game console, after he took a break from playing “Grand Theft Auto” and left his microphone activated.
The incident occurred on June 28 at the home of 18-year-old Daniel Enrique Fabian, who was out on bail from an earlier sexual assault of an underage girl that allegedly took place on June 4, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
Fabian had been playing “Grand Theft Auto” on the multiplayer network, and allegedly told another gamer that he had to step away for a few minutes so he could go “smash” a girl who was coming over, police said, according to the Miami Herald.
Fabian left his Playstation 4 online and his headset microphone activated, which enabled the other gamer to hear the sexual assault that occurred over the course of the next 15 minutes, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
The 16-year-old gamer who overheard the incident later told police he heard a female yell “no” repeatedly, then she began moaning for help, the Miami Herald reported.
The unnamed victim told investigators that she tried to get away from Fabian four times, but that he covered her mouth and held her down on his bed as he sexually assaulted her.
After the alleged rape, Fabian resumed playing his video game with the gamer who overheard the assault.
Although the gamer was questioned during the course of the investigation, it was unclear whether he actually reported the attack to police.
The victim submitted to a sexual assault examination, and DNA from her thigh matched that of Fabian.
On Nov. 21, Fabian was arrested for lewd and lascivious battery on a victim between the age of 12 and 15.
He also faces an identical charge for the alleged attack on his first victim.
"He was arrested in June for another case involving a different 15-year-old girl, where he allegedly raped her in his home as well," Pasco Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kevin Doll, told WFLA.
