Menlo Park, CA – Conservative commentator Candace Owens has been targeted as an “extra credit” assignment on a Facebook list of “hate agents” they’re considering banning, according to an internal employee.
The Facebook source said that the list of “hate agents” was posted to an internal employee discussion group, Breitbart reported.
The list also named many prominent alternative and conservative media figures who have recently been banned from Facebook, the source claimed.
Owens’ name was listed in a special category labeled “extra credit,” a screenshot of the partial list showed.
“We should look into these after we’re done with the above designation analysis” the list read.
The employee said that the people named in the “extra credit” section have not yet been banned from the platform, but that they are likely to be investigated for alleged “hate speech,” Breitbart reported.
Access to the list has been restricted since the leak.
A spokeswoman for the social media giant confirmed the existence of the “hate agents” list, and said that it was established in April, Breitbart reported.
She did not deny that Owens’ is among the names listed, and said that she did not believe the investigation into the conservative commentator has yet begun.
The spokeswoman also confirmed that the list was connected Facebook’s ban of several alternative media figures on May 2.
The leaked memo was forwarded to Breitbart on Friday – the same day that Owens was suspended from Facebook for posting about “liberal supremacy.”
“Black America must wake up to the great liberal hoax,” Owens’ post read. “White supremacy is not a threat. Liberal supremacy is.”
“This post goes against our community standards,” Facebook alerted her, along with notification that her account would be suspended for seven days.
Facebook later claimed that they blocked Owens’ account by mistake, and said that they unlocked it after they “confirmed that the content didn’t violate” their policies, Breitbart reported.
“As we said earlier today, we mistakenly applied a temporary block to Candace Owens’ account that we have since restored,” the Facebook spokeswoman said. “We recently announced a group of people that we removed from our services for violating our policies. Candace Owens was not one of those people.”
The company has also allegedly used a “deboosting algorithm” to covertly reduce the spread of content produced by certain users, including many prominent conservatives, Breitbart reported.

Owens has become one of America’s most popular conservative speakers since she began broadcasting her political views in 2017, The Epoch Times reported.
She has argued that liberal welfare incentives have weakened the family structure in black communities, and that illegal immigration has undercut black workers. Owens has also spoken out against liberal abortion policies, and says they are a means of suppressing the growth of the black community.
