Including the dead man that the undercover officers approached in some fashion that has not yet been disclosed to us? Out of respect to the dead man, I think "respect" demands that we consider the possibility that he did not know he was shooting at police officers. Maybe he did know . . . maybe he didn't. Need to know what disinterested witnesses and the video at the Sky Vue Motel say before I can decide how to feel about this situation.

Maybe it was good police work and maybe it was bad, unsafe police work. We need to know precisely because Blue Lives Matter.

Prayers for the fallen and wounded. And, for the confused jerks who seem to want to make every discussion and posting, even those which involve death and clearly line-of-duty actions, indictments or complaints about policing and police in general. Dead and wounded human beings, regardless of their status before the law, deserve a least a moment of respect before we return to grinding our political axes.

@Hi_estComnDenomn You say that soldiers will turn in other soldiers because their lives depend on each other. It's the EXACT same thing with cops. Why would a cop let another cop back him up if the first cop knew the second had betrayed his badge?! That's crazy. Anyone who betrays his badge might then betray his brother or at least not be trust-worthy in life/death situations.

@Hi_estComnDenomn Your argument about a possible 10,000 cops being bad and no one doing anything about it is a logical fallacy. Your argument assumes that the other 99% are OK with the 1% bad. Of COURSE not! To say that 100% of cops on the street at any given moment are all good would be naive and not at all genuine. But that doesn't mean that efforts are not being made to eradicate those that soil the badge. Just like the military has MPs to police the soldiers the cops have IA to police the police. Both groups (MP/IA) are necessary bc you'll never have 100% good in any group. But knowing that there will never be 100% good doesn't mean you stop trying to reach that ideal.

@Hi_estComnDenomn What had led you to believe that good cops DON'T turn in bad cops? I'm honestly baffled. You talk like this doesn't happen but I've not seen proof of this ever. As I've said ad nauseum now - good cops hate bad cops more than anyone else possibly could. That's why IA (Internal Affairs) exists in the first place!

I wonder how many people were shot and killed in Chicago today and how many witnesses actually came forward to help the police? I've been told black lives matter but apparently not so much that they would actually try to help and find the people responsible for shooting up their neighborhoods.

Wonder if the third officer was friendly fire. Wonder if stricter federal gun control laws would have prevented this tragedy.
