Kitten-Throwing Teen From Viral Video Arrested

A California teenager featured throwing a kitten into the street in a video has been arrested.

Ontario, CA - The 16-year-old boy who was captured on video launching a kitten into the air, and throwing it into the street, has been arrested.

Footage of the incident was posted to Twitter on Saturday, Dec. 2, and showed the kitten being swung and thrown high into the air by the teenager.

On the video, the kitten could be heard meowing in distress after it hit the pavement. The video, which can be seen here, was graphic and difficult to watch.

The video sparked immediate outrage from people across the country.

"Police have arrested the juvenile suspect seen in the video throwing a cat into the street,” the Ontario Police Department announced in a statement.

They said police were notified of the video early Saturday morning, and officers immediately started investigating. Police identified the suspect later that afternoon.

Police worked leads, and located the suspect on foot, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Monday, the statement read.

Ontario police officers spotted the suspect near 7th Street and Berlyn Ave in the City of Upland.

The suspect ran when he saw the police, but officers quickly tackled him, and took him into custody.

Police said the arrestee is a 16-year-old juvenile resident of Ontario. His name is being withheld because of his age.

The kitten, described as "small" by police, suffered a fractured leg and is recovering at an Inland Empire animal hospital.

A vet said that the kitten had a cast on one leg and a wrapping on another, and also suffered internal injuries, according to WDIV.

The kitten’s name is “Spots,” his owner said. She said she was unable to watch the graphic video, which lasts about 10 seconds.

"I just want him to know he hurt a victim that can't defend itself," Spots’ owner, Perla, told KNBC.

She said the kitten was a stray when she found it.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward and contact the Ontario Police Department at (909) 395-2001.

Take it back to basics - "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". Do EXACTLY to him what he did to that poor defenseless kitten. No living creature deserves to be tortured like that, but whatever happened to "do unto other as you would have them do unto you"?? HE DESERVES it! Also have him get a job to pay for ALL of the kitten's care related to what he did.

I agree @judyindaskyz , he should most definitely have to pay for vet bills and medications. I'm so glad he was caught, I'm afraid of what else he has done, or what else he will do in the future. Being a juvenile, what does everyone think his punishment should be?

@LEOWife, what about making him a litter-cleaner after lions, tigers, and other big cats at the nearest big zoo every day for one year? I know that the big cats don't use litter, but I thought it was a more polite way to say it! 😁

I agree with @judyindaskyz but that would probably be illegal :p. First I would test to see if he was one of those people who couldn't feel emotions very well or if he was just cruel. Then I would take him to see the cats owner (if she wanted/was ok with seeing him) and let him see the injured cat, if someone did something like this to one of my pets (if i couldn't do physical damage) I would be up in their face yelling and spitting on them. Then maybe some jail time, put in a block full of people who love animals, then we take no responsibility for what might happen.

This individual deserves to be locked up forever. Most serial killers start by torturing small animals.
