Kirkersville, Ohio - It has been confirmed that Kirkersville Police Chief Eric Disario was ambushed and fatally shot by a killer on Friday, who then went into a nursing home and killed two more people before turning the gun on himself.
The incident was reported at around 7:30 AM as an armed man in the street in the 200 block East Main Street in Kirkersville at Pine Kirk Care Center. Officers arrived and found Chief Disario down in the road. They extracted him from the scene and transported him to the hospital where he died.
Police went into the nearby nursing home and found three more people dead from gunshot wounds; one is the suspected shooter. The other two victims are employee of the nursing home. There is no further threat to the public.
No information about the suspect or his motive has been released.
After the shooting, the nursing home was evacuated and Kirkersville Elementary school was placed on lockdown. All children have now been moved to Watkins Middle Schools where parents can pick up their children.
Chief Eric Disario was 36 years old, a father of six, and his wife is pregnant with their seventh child. No official crowdfunding campaigns have been announced for the fallen hero's family at this time. Please wait until an official announcement is made before donating.
