'Kill The Cops' - Unrest After Chicago Cop Shot 'Unarmed Black Man' With Gun

A Chicago PD officer-involved shooting has sparked unrest and threats against police.

Chicago, IL - Protesters gathered and threatened to kill the police after a Chicago PD officer shot a man Saturday night.

The incident happened in the area of 71st St and Chappel Ave at around 5:30 p.m.

Community "witnesses" are claiming that an unarmed black barber was walking home from work when a Chicago PD officer shot him in the back as he was running away.

Other "witnesses" said that the man had a gun, but it was okay for the man to have a gun, because he had a concealed carry permit.

It's not clear if any of these witnesses actually witnessed the shooting.

UPDATE: Chciago PD confirms that the man had a gun.

No other information has been officially released about the circumstances of the shooting.

The condition of the suspect has not been officially released, but WGN9 reports that is he is dead.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

Neither the involved officers or suspect have been identified at this time.

Almost immediately after the shooting, a crowd gathered and started threatening to shoot the police officers.

At least one person started jumping on police cars.

The unrest has been captured on video by the large number of community activists who arrived following the shooting.

You can see video live-streams of the protest below. WARNING - Extreme language:

@Bstn199 Protesting is no fun if there's not lots of media around and if you don't have a common, usually authoritative enemy you can point out as the reason for your continued status as a victim. And protesting the very real threat of violence within your own community could actually accomplish something and have the result of liberating you from your perceived oppression, which can't be allowed to happen or you'd have no one but yourself to blame for anything.

Don't be silly everyone... The nice man with the gun simply wanted to show it to his new friend the police officer. He had no culpability for his illegal weapon leading to his death. We should definitely form our own mob and join in the fun of the protests.

I live in Chicago and have a CCW. The law was made purposely to trump any home-rule action.

You can't own a gun in the state of Chicago. Chicago doesn't have CCW. If you have a gun in Chicago and you're not law enforcement, it's a felony.
