Oklahoma City, OK - Amber Alert teen Elizabeth Thomas and her former teacher Tad Cummins were confirmed to have been sighted in an Oklahoma City Walmart on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
According to Fox 17, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that it received a tip and confirmed the sighting after review of surveillance video. The video footage showed Elizabeth Thomas, age 15, and her accused kidnapper Tad Cummins at the Walmart located at East I-240 Service Road.
The video was taken two days after Elizabeth Thomas was kidnapped on March 13, 2017. According to the TBI, Cummins appears to have darkened his hair, and Elizabeth Thomas' hair is now red. She also appeared to be wearing Cummins's shirt.
Almost 1,200 tips have been received by the TBI since the Amber Alert was issued. This is the first confirmed sighting. Detectives are trying to identify the vehicle that they are using from surveillance video.
Elizabeth Thomas is believed to have been kidnapped by Tad Cummins, age 50. He had been fired from his teaching position after an investigation into reports of inappropriate contact, and is now facing charges of Aggravated Kidnapping and Sexual Contact with a Minor.
In a statement, the TBI stressed that this incident is a kidnapping and not a romance. Elizabeth Thomas remains in danger, and Cummins is believed to be armed with two guns.
Tad Cummins is wanted for kidnapping and abusing this child, and everybody needs to be on the lookout.
The FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are also assisting in the investigation.
Cummins's wife filed for divorce on Friday, March 31, 2017.
