Judges Lowered Killer's Bond So He Could Bail Out Before Murdering Deputy

Police had John Williams in custody for a litany of weapons charges, but the court let him walk free.

Norridgewock, Maine – A man suspected of murdering a Maine sheriff’s deputy and stealing his patrol vehicle on Wednesday morning was out on bond from earlier weapons charges, after two judges lowered his bail twice.

John Williams, 29, is currently the subject of a nationwide manhunt, after he allegedly shot and killed Somerset County Corporal Eugene Cole between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. in Skowhegan, the North Andover Patch reported.

Williams fled in the slain officer’s patrol vehicle, which was later found abandoned in Norridgewock at approximately 5 a.m.

Williams was suspected of robbing a Cumberland Farms store. Dashcam footage from Cpl. Cole’s patrol vehicle captured images of Williams as he entered and exited the store.

The suspected cop-killer had been behind bars on Mar. 22, after Massachusetts State Police spotted two vehicles parked in the I-495 breakdown lane.

Williams, whose vehicle had gone off of the roadway, told the officers he had fallen asleep while he was driving, but denied having consumed illegal drugs or alcohol, KTUU reported.

He was found in possession of a 9mm handgun, as well as a 16-round magazine.

Investigators also located containers with a powder residue, as well as a short straw and a razor blade - all of which were items commonly used to ingest narcotics.

Williams was charged with improper storage of a firearm, possession/carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, marked lanes violation, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, the North Andover Patch reported.

Prosecutors asked the court to hold him on $10,000 bond, but Judge Michael Patten set his bail at just $7,500.

During a bail review hearing five days later, Judge Timothy Feeley lowered Williams’ bond further, to just $5,000, despite the court’s notation that Williams did not have ties to the community, according to court documents.

Jason Law posted a copy of the bail documents which state, “The court has not considered the defendant’s alleged dangerousness in setting the amount of bail.”

On Mar. 31, Williams made bail, and was released from custody. His probable cause hearing for the earlier offenses was scheduled for Wednesday morning – the same morning that Cpl. Cole was murdered.

Williams was described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and is approximately 120 pounds. He has blue eyes, and brown hair, and a full beard, WCSH reported.

His whereabouts are unknown, and he should be considered heavily armed.

Please share his photo on social media so that he has nowhere to hide.

@LEO0301
Did you read this article before posting it?

The first story, he took way waaaay more than the recommended amount. That's not weed's fault, that's his ignorance's fault.

In the second scenario, the man at a bunch of infused candy, again bypassing the recommended dosage. THEN he stacked it with pain medication, most likely an opioid.

When you put marijuana and opioids side by side, which one of those would you say leads to murdering someone?

Both of these stories were people who failed to follow directions. That's not the weed's fault.

I don't recall anyone asking for your opinion. Now go back to jerking off to boy porn, asshole.

Maybe you should read this article Cheech. With any luck you'll throw yourself off of a really high building onto a spike metal fence. Yes, I know the marijuana itself won't kill but the stupid stuff you do from the high can. Example -

@LEO0301 is probably a meth man. Let's hope he finds his end in that drug.

I guess lucky for me, no one has ever died from marijuana. Ever. In the history of humanity. Looks like the odds are in my favor!

Suck on a gun barrel you fucking clown.

Hahaha Nope made it home safely. You know how there are occasional health scares when grocery stores get a bad batch of food and people get really sick and die? Well, my thoughts and prayers are that it happens to you with the marijuana you get from your local weed store. I know, that's only wishful thinking.

I live in LA. Why in the world would i get my weed from a street vendor when i can go to my nearest secure pharmacy with an armed guard, a sign in and my personal budtender who knows what i like?

See, the beauty of legal marijuana is you don't have to worry about getting dirty weed. It's beautiful, really.

Oh, and please die in a terrible single-car accident with no one else suffering any damage on your way home today.

I keep hoping for the day you get marijuana laced with fentanyl. Now that would be funny!

I thought that was fairly common information, until i got on this site and encountered the Kim Wards of the world.

Regardless, here's an article. Do the rest of the research yourself.

@Blackbird007
Chicago isn't even the murder capitol of America. How do you calculate murder capital of the world?

And the strict gun laws don't even equate in Illinois. Illinois criminals get their guns from Indiana, which has very, very lax gun laws.

Blackbird007

Happens all the time in Chicago. Blacks are never charged the way they should be for having illegal weapons. If they put them in jail for the time they are suppose to get Chicago wouldn't be the murder capital of the world..And they have the strictest gun laws to keep them out olf the hands of law abiding citizens.

The number of blacks in Maine has no bearing on a white multiple weapons offending drug addict getting a light sentence.

Black 1.3% Maine population so I don't believe so. The judges own this one. Our judiciary needs to get behind our LEO and citizens.

I suggest that HCD is really only remarkably common, like dirt on a floor, and that he be ignored and ostracized from here on out.

the judges acted so stupidly, it is unbelievable----now the creep that supposedly killed cop, is no where to be seen---will the judges like to go to the family of the cop and to tell it was their fault----

Yes, race card. I'd love to meet a brown druggie with multiple weapons charges getting off with a light sentence.

These judges who lower the bail should be held responsible in some way for any part of a murder committed. Lowering bails and feeling sorry- nope. It's not an eye for an eye. It's justice.
Sue the hell out of them and take everything they have!
