Infamous Child Molester Larry Nassar Assaulted After Just Hours In Prison

A convicted child molesting doctor was assaulted in prison and his attorney blames the judge.

Tuscon, AZ – Convicted child molester and former sports doctor Larry Nassar was attacked by inmates at the federal Arizona prison where he will likely spend the rest of his life after pleading guilty to sexual assault and child pornography charges.

Nassar was “physically attacked” within hours after he was put in the general population at the United States Penitentiary, according to the Detroit News.

The claim was made in court documents filed by Nassar’s attorneys in Ingham County Circuit Court. Nassar’s attorneys want the former Michigan State University doctor to be re-sentenced by a different judge in the first of the molestation cases he faced.

Nassar, 54, is serving a 60-year federal sentence for possessing child pornography and was also sentenced to up to 175 years in state prison for molesting seven girls.

Malaika Ramsey-Heath, who is one of Nassar’s attorneys, said that he was removed from the general population of the prison. She didn’t have details of any injuries Nassar may have sustained, according to the Detroit News.

Ralph Miller, a retired Bureau of Prisons employee with an expertise in sex offender designations, told the Detroit News that federal inmates either live in the general population or the Special Housing Unit.

"That's the jail within the jail: lockdown 23 hours a day and they allow them out one hour a day for recreation," Miller said, according to the Detroit News.

One of Nassar’s attorneys blamed the judge who sentenced the disgraced doctor to prison for the assault, according to the Detroit News.

Attorney Jacqueline McCann said in a court filing that Judge Rosemarie Aquilina’s comments and conduct during the sentencing hearing encouraged violence against Nassar.

The attorney noted that the judge even had the nerve allow more than 150 girls and women to give victim impact statements in court over seven days.

“The judge herself openly lamented that she could not impose cruel and unusual punishment upon the defendant, indicated her expectation that he would be harmed in prison, without condemning it, and finally proclaimed, with apparent relish, that she was signing his 'death warrant,'" McCann wrote, according to the Detroit News. "Unfortunately, Judge Aquilina's comments and conducting of the sentencing proceeding appeared to encourage this type of behavior."

This man should absolutely NOT receive any money or compensation. He was obviously protected, of he would be dead or in the hospital with serious rectal injuries. The guards do the best they can give the fact that they are supervising hundreds of prisoners in open areas, rather then locking them all in cages 24/7. If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. This man deserves EVERYTHING his fellow prisoners choose to give him, he is despicable! It is equal justice in my book, now maybe he will know just a little of what his victims suffered. I have no sympathy for this scum!

Burgers do you think the police officers get to decide whether this dude gets to go in general population or confined to the special housing unit? I think they should hang the bastard and be done with him to start with. If you are upset with his treatment perhaps you should try and make a difference in the future by going preach your nonsense to inmates in prison, the ones who attacked him. I'm sure they'd love to hear your point of view. By your logic, the police have a crystal ball and should be able to predict all crimes, and if not they somehow should be responsible for not coddling everyone under a blanket of armor. You have the same dumb-assed responses on here every day. Do you think that every single child molester in prison gets assaulted like this? Believe me, there are lots of child molesters, both in and out of prison. Do an online search of your local sex offender registry you'll be quite surprised how many live right near you I'll bet.

Let me ask you this Burgers.... lets assume you have a young daughter, say under 10 years old. And this Nassar guy molested her. How would you feel about that? Would you be concerned about his safety while in general population? I take it you have never been the victim of a crime by the things you say here. Troll.

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina is as responsible for his treatment from other inmates as Jacqueline McCann is responsible for the actions of Larry Nassar. Why shouldn't every single victim have a chance to speak at this perv's trial. I wonder how much of his "attack" was fact, and how much was a prearranged complaint because he was in fear of what MIGHT happen to him. After the negative way he affected so many lives, it would be good for him to spend the rest of his life in fear. Let what he did really sink in!

Prison should pay the man. This was foreseeable and should have been prevented. Police officers who think that prisoners should be beat up in prison are not suited to be police officers. It is just not how America is supposed to work.
