Berkeley, CA - Student republicans, right-wing, free-speech supporters, and the alt-right all gathered at the UC Berkeley campus to hold a free-speech rally after conservative speaker Ann Coulter had her speech canceled over safety concerns.
There had been some uncertainty if Antifa (anarchists) was going to show up as they had at previous right-wing gatherings. Those prior events resulted in massive brawls involving hundreds of people when the anarchists violently assaulted people attending the rallies.
At each of the prior attacks at Berkeley, the police officers were ordered to fall back, which left everybody to fend for themselves.
However, the scene has changed so far today as officers have been working to keep the peace. There are hundreds of people in attendance at the rally and any anarchists would be severely outnumbered if they did show.
Berkeley Side is reporting that officers are searching everybody who enters prohibiting a long list of items which could be used as weapons as well as prohibiting masks.
Sarah Ravani reports that masked people are being told by police to remove their masks so that they can be photographed. One man refused, was cuffed in flexicuffs, and arrested for obstruction.

There have been conflicting reports about the number of anarchists seen scouting the area.
The event is still in progress and it's unclear if the anarchists are going to show. We'll keep you updated.
