Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Authorities have announced that escaped killers Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose were captured in Tennessee after a pursuit on Thursday night.
UPDATE: The suspects were captured after being held at gunpoint by an armed homeowner.
The pair's captured comes after they tied up a couple on Kindree Road in Shelbyville, TN and stole their black Jeep and guns.
Authorities located the vehicle and attempted to stop it at Interstate 24 near the Epps Mill Road exit.
Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose ditched the vehicle and fled on foot, and were captured after a short foot pursuit.
According to WFTV9, the initial murders and escape happened while inmates were being transported prisoners during a work detail.
The suspects stole the guns from two corrections officers, murdered them, and carjacked a vehicle. Both suspects are armed with 40 caliber Glock pistols and at large.
U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said that he was providing federal resources for the manhunt.
"An attack on any American law enforcement officer is an attack on every American law enforcement officer and the principles we all believe in," Rosenstein said.
The murdered corrections officers were identified as Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue.
At the time of the shooting there were 33 inmates who were reportedly present on the prison bus. All inmates are being interviewed about the incident.
Great job to all law enforcement officers involved in the search, and to everybody who got the word out about these wanted killers. Now, thankfully, we can ask people to spread the word that these two oxygen thieves have been captured and they may stop searching.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of murdered heroes Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue. Hopefully the apprehension of these killers will bring some peace to their families.
