Cleveland, Ohio - Tuesday morning, January 24, 2017, Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey was killed when he was hit by a car and the driver never stopped.
Officer David Fahey was helping out on the scene of a collision involving a fire truck and a van at about 5:40 AM Tuesday morning. While Officer Fahey was setting up flares, a car barreled through and struck the hero, killing him. Despite the obvious impact and significant damage to the suspect's vehicle, they kept driving.
At the time of this writing there is a massive manhunt for the suspect.
"We have to find this person. Officer Fahey was out there protecting the city and doing his job. He's not going home to his family," Cleveland Chief Calvin Williams said. "Either this person turns themselves in or we find them."
Officers from all over the area are looking for possible white Toyota Camry w front end damage. Part plate may read GTD.
The News-Herald reports that officers have moves in on an area in Lorain where they believe the suspect may be hiding.
Officer David Fahey comes from a family of law enforcement; both of Officer Fahey's parents were Cleveland Police Officers as well. Officer Fahey was 39-years-old, a Navy Veteran, and was hired July 7th, 2014. He was assigned to the first district.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Fahey's family and the Cleveland Police Department. We have no doubt that this hero's killer will be brought to justice.
Officer David Fahey, your life mattered.
