Hero Down: Henry County Police Officer Mike Reid Found Dead Inside Patrol Vehicle

McDonough, GA - Henry County Police Officer Mike Reid was found dead in his vehicle on Friday.

McDonough, GA - Henry County Police Officer Mike Reid was found dead in his vehicle on Friday.

According to Henry Herald, another Henry County Police Officer found Officer Reid about 11:40 AM in an undeveloped commercial area behind a Publix grocery store, located at Georgia Highway 20 at Loop Road.

Henry County Police spokesman Mike Ireland said that it appeared that Officer Reid had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the Henry County Police Department said

“Any loss of life is unbearably sad and to lose one of our brothers or sisters in the police department, it weighs heavily on all of our hearts. Please keep his family, friends, and the police department in your thoughts and prayers during this time.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.

Officer Reid is survived by his wife and children.
