New York State Trooper Brian Falb, 47, died Monday, March 13, 2017, from a 9/11-related illness.
According to Auburn Pub, Trooper Falb was diagnosed with brain cancer in May, 2016. He assisted with search and recovery operations at the World Trade Center, and his illness was attributed to his work at the site. 9/11 related deaths are considered line of duty deaths.
He joined the New York State Police in May, 1998, and most recently served with Troop B, whose area is the North Country of Clinton and Franklin counties. Trooper Falb was part of the agency's Traffic Incident Management Team.
Trooper Falb was the fourth State Police member to die from a 9/11-related illness. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. He is survived by his wife and four children.
