Harris County, TX - Harris County Sheriff's Office advised that a Deputy Constable was ambushed in a shooting while in a parking lot in Baytown. He was not conducting any enforcement action at the time of the shooting.

The Deputy Constable was with an unmarked SUV in an open parking lot near the back of the Baytown courthouse at around 7 AM. The deputy was then shot in the neck from across the open area of the parking lot. The deputy radioed for help saying, "I'm bleeding out," according to ABC13.

Another deputy rushed to the scene and provided first aid until they were able to airlift the injured hero to Memorial Hermann Hospital. There has been no official update on this hero's condition.

It's not known at this time if this was a sniper attack, but preliminary information is that the deputy was shot from some distance.

A manhunt has been underway ever since, but no suspect description has been released, and it's not clear if the officers have information about the shooter at this time.

The courthouse and Sterling High School have been placed on lockdown while the manhunt is underway.

The scene is still very active with the manhunt underway and everybody should avoid the area at this time.

The injured hero is extremely critical and is need of all of the prayers and well-wishes you can offer.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Harris County Sheriff's Office and this injured hero. May everybody else stay safe while hunting this would-be assassin.

We will keep you updated with the manhunt and the deputy's condition as more information comes in.
