Gunman Opens Fire At School Event, Concealed Carry Bystander Takes Him Out

An armed man shot a gunman in the head as he opened fire at a school event.

Titusville, FL - A man licensed to carry a firearm took out a gunman at a school peace rally on Saturday after the gunman opened fire.

The incident happened at Isaac Campbell Park just after 5:20 p.m. according to WFTV.

People brought their children out for a "Peace in the City" event that was promised to be a "day of fun, not violence."

The anti-violence climate changed after two people at the event got into a fistfight. One of the people involved left, and then returned with a firearm.

The man opened fire in the park, which was full of children.

A bystander who was licensed to carry a firearm drew his own weapon and shot the gunman in the head.

The gunman was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Nobody important was injured.

“We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident,” Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson said in a statement released by the city. “This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park, this could have been so much worse."

The detectives consulted with the State Attorney's office and announced that they do not expect to file charges against the legally armed citizen, because his actions appear to be legal.

USCCA offers great insurance for CCL holders. They give you a membership card that includes exactly what you should say to dispatch when you’ve had an incident.

this is the reality of the situation, im surprised it was even reported. no one probably thanked him, but they did mention that charges "PROBABLY" would not be filed against the hero because his actions were legal. all they will talk about is that a madman with a gun opened up at a peace rally, not that a good guy with a gun most assuredly saved many lives.

Nothing in the Washington Post. Instead they are pushing the story about trying to punish parents for kids that gain access and harm someone.

Should be headline news!!! But, unfortunately, our press prefers to choose to publicise only when the bad guy shoots. It's makes them feel justified in supporting their gun control agenda.

Years ago, my dad was a NYPD member but he wasn't supposed to bring his gun outside the state. Hmmmm....would have rather he carry than some lunatic. He was an upstanding man for thirty years on the job.

41 African Americans murdered in one day in Chicago by more than likely illegal gun toters, other blacks. The major cities are besieged by genocidal politicians that lie through their teeth to them and create this insanity.

I give severe credit to the kids from parkland for raising worldwide awareness and for pushing stricter gun control laws accepted by the president. As a result it paid off in this event. They deserve total credit for this and the legally concealed gunman is a hero. this is an example of the USA pulling together combining ideas to make school grounds safer, and this day - IT PAID OFF! Well done Parkland Stoneman Douglas High School students, your efforts are proving to be a success. (This man was a bystander and it was not mentioned if he was attending the event or not)

I'm glad that the authorities deemed the man who had a weapon as conceled and carry as innocent as it should be
