Gunman Murders Deputy, Shoots Another, Then Livestreams Standoff

A Clermont County deputy was murdered Saturday night to Sunday morning.

Clermont County, Ohio - One Clermont County deputy was murdered and another was wounded in a gunfight with a suspect late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

The incident started just before 7 p.m. Saturday night with a 911 call from a man who said he believed somebody was in his apartment at 360 St. Andrews Drive. The caller said he was armed and suicidal.

Deputies arrived and made contact with 23-year-old Wade Edward Winn, who opened fire on them. The suspect then started livestreaming on Instagram.

This led to a standoff with SWAT, and witnesses reported hearing gunshots during the standoff, according to WLWT. The suspect said during the livestream that he had exchanged gunfire with police multiple times.

"They kicked in the door. I shot two of them. They did not return fire at that time," Winn said during the livestream. "They have now fired back at me, but only once or twice. They have no idea where I'm at. I've now shot multiple, multiple times."

During the incident, two deputies were shot by the suspect.

The deputies were transported to UC Medical Center where one of them succumbed to their injuries.

Winn was taken into custody after 6 a.m.

The deputy who was murdered has been identified as Detective Bill Brewer, according to WLWT. He leaves behind a wife and 5-year-old son.

"Deputy Brewer gave his life attempting to help a person who was admittedly suicidal. This will forever change the atmosphere of the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office” Sheriff Steve Leahy.

The wounded deputy was identified as Lt. Nick DeRose. He has been treated for his wounds at the hospital and released.

You can see video of the suspect's livestream below:

If he was suicidal why didn't he just go out with his gun and let the cops kill him? Since the POS wanted to be dead anyway. He shoots cops then pretends they're out to kill him? Wish they'd have taken out this waste of air punk before he hurt anyone else. Cops have to be PC now and let the leftists and criminals shoot them first and it's wrong.

When is it going to STOP? Criminals shoot police officers with no consequences, often end up suing and receiving millions, defended by a sympathetic legal system, go to jail and receive free food, medical/pharmaceuticals/dental treatments that millions of americans can not afford all at taxpayers expense. People who break the laws of our society should fear their punishments not laugh and mock the very system supposedly designed to provide equal justice under the law. Our system is broken, honest law abiding citizens are sick and tired of this failed system, the thing that comes to mind is a 1974 movie with Charles Bronson "Vigilante". If this is the answer then, so be it.

I am probably wrong here, but if a 911 caller wants to commit suicide let them. Do not send our officers into a possible ambush. That goes for our firefighters as well.

I pray for police officers all the time!

Every time our First Responders answer a call, I pray they're not walking into an ambush. Less than a year ago we lost a police officer and just barely two weeks ago we lost another here in the Mobile AL area. Thank you to ALL of our First Responders for your service. May God Bless, watch over and keep each and every one of you safe.

Thoughts and prayers. I wonder whether better federal gun control laws could have prevented this awful tragedy and noble sacrifice by the law enforcement officers.

What a POS!!! He's the one who called the police (911) to come to his house saying he thinks there's someone in his apartment and that he was armed and suicidal. Then he murders a cop and tries to murder a 2nd one. Then he goes on Instagram Live acting like a damn victim?? Little piece of shit can go to hell. I hope the homies in prison show you some real love!!

Update on this story..To start I worked with Detective Brewer for 7 years before my retirement he was one of the best deputies you could work with. Well respected by everyone and his hometown community, he was also a good friend, previously he had worked at the jail before going to the road, he had been with the SO for 20 years. This night he was a member of the SRT that responded to this incident which lasted for well over 10 hours. Cincinnati PD SWAT responded also for assistance as the night dragged on. It has now been determined the 911 call the suspect made was a hoax to draw officers in for an ambush. The incident occured in Pierce Township, PTPD units responded and asked for assistance from the SO upon arrival. Several shots were fired at officers and while the supect was jumping from room to room units cold not determine and fire back. When they went to rush the door of the apartment the supect opened fire striking two deputies. Deputy Brewer was rushed to Anderson Mercy hospital where he died of his wounds, Deputy DeRose sustained a shot to his ankle and is recovering, he was transported to UC Medical center. Towards the end of the standoff someone else or the suspect set fire to the apartment building and has displaced 16 families, he was taken into custody shortly before the fire erupted into a working fire. His bond has been set at 10 million dollars and needless to say the court room was packed yesterday with blue family from departments all over the county. The whole county is devastated by the loss of such a good man and deputy, he leaves behind his wife and 5 year old son. Rest in Peace Bill, my friend and brother, till we meet again...
