Grand Jury Indicts Portland Antifa Who Beat Elderly Man With Weapon

A grand jury indicted 23-year-old Gage Halupowski on four charges for attacking an elderly man and his Good Samaritan.

Portland, OR – A grand jury on Tuesday indicted the man Portland police identified as having attacked an elderly man during a violent protest downtown on June 29.

Gage Halupowski, 23, was scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday and is facing charges of second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, attempted assault of a public safety officer, and interfering with a peace officer, The Oregonian reported.

Halupowski was one of the black-masked antifa who were captured on video as they attacked an elderly man who walked through the area where they were marching.

The video, posted by Human Events Managing Editor Ian Miles Cheong, showed a group of thugs grabbing an elderly man with white hair and beating him with a crowbar and spraying him with mace.

A big man in a black shirt with a red beard tried to intervene but antifa members beat him as well, striking him over the head before they sprayed him with mace as well, the video showed.

But the man did not give up on helping the elderly man.

The video showed the big bleeding man heading over to help the elderly man but then he was attacked again by masked antifa, who shoved him away and up onto the sidewalk, where they sprayed him again from an industrial-sized can of mace.

Once the older man was able to get to his feet, he continued walking away from the violent protesters as they screamed at him.

A man with a camera stepped in and handed the bleeding elderly man a cloth to wipe his face.

The older man then held onto his rescuer’s hand and the man walked him safely away from the crowd, the video showed.

The Good Samaritan who helped him, Adam Kelly, was taken to the hospital where doctors used 25 stitches and staples to close the bloody gashes on his head.

The probable cause affidavit said that Halupowski was one of many antifa involved in the fight at Pioneer Courthouse Square, The Oregonian reported.

The affidavit said an officer saw Halupowski run up behind Kelly and strike him on the head with an expandable baton.

Police said that when another officer tried to arrest Halupowski, he punched her in the arm and ran away, The Oregonian reported.

Multiple citizens and police officers were injured and three people were arrested during the violent protests led by black-masked antifa.

Most of the city’s streets were shut down or blocked as roving bands of antifa, clad in black and wearing hoods or helmets with black face masks, attacked police, conservative demonstrators, and at least one journalist.

Separate demonstrations led by different factions had been planned in several places in the city, but by 3 p.m. the violence and mayhem had escalated to the point where the Portland Police Bureau was forced to declare a civil disturbance and unlawful assembly, The Oregonian reported.

Protesters threw eggs, milkshakes, and other projectiles at the police officers tasked with keeping peace during the demonstrations.

Police said some of the milkshakes that were thrown contained “a substance similar to quick-drying cement,” The Oregonian reported.

Quick-drying cement can cause chemical burns, even after it's washed off.

Officers in crowd-control gear lined up to shut down passage on street and police ordered the crowd to disperse through a loudspeaker and threatened to use crowd control tactics on those who did not leave.

During the chaos of the day, journalist Andy Ngo was attacked by a mob several times.

Although he said he reported the initial incidences to police when they happened, it wasn’t until after he was beaten and bloody, with his camera gear stolen, that he felt police were taking the attacks seriously.

Ngo was filming the crowd when he was attacked from multiple directions by masked antifa and his GoPro camera was stolen.

He was able to get clear of the crowd and talk with officers, and then was transported to the emergency room for treatment.

Ngo was admitted to the hospital overnight with a “brain bleed,” according to his attorney Harmeet K. Dhillon.

The Mayor of Portland also needs to be arrested.

This incident made me so angry I went to Gage Halupowski Facebook page, looked up his friends and gave a few of them my piece of mind about their cowardly tactics and warned them if a local militia decides to go after them, they will be pissing their pants. Of course I received hate messages and death threats and was stuck in Facebook jail, so I could not respond. By the time I got out Facebook had wiped my page clean of all the threats, as if they did it to protect ANTIFA. I will say the threats stopped coming in though.

I appreciate your desire.to fill us in with the backstory, but you're literally copy/pasting previous stories. Just a short snippet of the fact that "X event" took place at the same time as "Y event" is all the reader wants. Even a link to the other story would suffice for those that may not have read it.

The Jussie Smollett story started out as a 2 minute read and is almost a short novel for a quick update.

I'm not being critical, just offering some advice to keep us reading.

I really appreciate the work you are doing to keep us posted with the news the liberal media won't tell us. 😁

The level of mental illness in these pencil-necks is staggering. Do you think at any point, while violently attacking an old man because he's protesting far right wing neo nazis, he realized that he might end up in prison, where there are REAL far right wing neo nazis?

It seems to me that hitting someone over the head with a metal bar is more like attempted murder than a simple assault.

This insanity lies on the shoulders of the DemoRAT Politicians who run the city

How do you allow “armed” protestors with masks!!

You are special kind of stupid!!!

Ok, my milkshakes don't have quick drying cement in them. Time to arrest anyone wearing a mask to a protest, shouldn't take more than five minutes to pass a new ordinance to that effect. Add it as a rider when you issue the permit.

Many states and all of Canada have a law against being masked during the commission of a crime. If Oregon doesn't have one, clearly they should.🤔

Oregon needs to step it up and do more to keep the peace during these events. They also need to create law the would unmask the crowd and if necessary, march in the national guard. I'll tell ya, seeing a deuce and a half rolling in and military men and women filing out of the back with M4s, M16s and a SAW or two and it will probably get the attention of a few people.
