Good Guy With Gun Holds Stabbing Suspect At Gunpoint Until Police Arrive

A Good Samaritan with a gun heard a cry for help and was able to intervene by holding the suspect at gunpoint.

Flint, MI – A Good Samaritan with a gun stopped a suspect from fleeing the police on the day after Christmas.

The incident occurred at about 10:40 pm on Dec. 26, 2018, when a man the prosecutor called a "good man with a gun" heard a cry for help, according to the Flint Journal.

Police believe that 33-year-old Ricky Harrington was fighting with his 53-year-old mother when he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her.

“There was some kind of disagreement,” Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said. “I think drinking was involved and he stabbed her.”

A Good Samaritan passing by the home in the 1700-block of Cronk Avenue heard someone yell “He stabbed my wife,” and went into action, police said.

First, he called 911, and then he went to see how he could help the distressed person.

The Flint Journal reported that the Good Samaritan was carrying a registered handgun and pulled it out when he came upon the bloody scene.

Leyton said that the man made Harrington get on his knees, and held him there at gunpoint until the police arrived, according to Leyton.

When officers arrived, they took Harrington into custody at the scene.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with intent to murder and domestic violence, according to the Flint Journal.

The Good Samaritan was not facing any charges after the incident.

“In fact, he probably performed a public service,” Leyton said, according to the Flint Journal.

The Flint Police Operations official Facebook page gave a shout out in a blurb headed “Citizen Performs Civil Duty.”

“Well done citizen!” the police praised the Good Samaritan.

Harrington’s wounded mother was transported to Hurley Medical Center and was listed in critical condition, according to the Flint Journal.

Police have not released her name, nor have they released the name of the Good Samaritan who came to her aid.

Harrington is being held in jail with bail set at $505,000 according to the Flint Journal.

These are the people liberals want to take guns away from. Strong gun laws never prevented a criminal from obtaining a firearm.
