Gaston Co. Deputy Murdered, 12+ Hurt, After Man Drives Car Through Restaurant

Deputy Katelyn Self was murdered by her father when he drove a car through a restaurant.

Bessemer City, NC - Gaston County Deputy Katelyn Self is among the two people killed after her father drove a car through the Surf & Turf Restaurant on Sunday.

Authorities say that the attack appeared intentional.

The incident happened just after noon at the 800 block of North 14th Street, according to WBTV.

Preliminary information is that there was a domestic incident between Deputy Self and her father, Roger Self. Roger then drove his vehicle through the Surf & Turf Restaurant, killing Katelyn and another person.

Responding officers have taken Roger into custody.

At least twelve people have been reportedly injured in the attack, and the second murder victim has not been identified at this time.

Deputy Katelyn Self was a 4-year veteran of the Gaston County Sheriff's Office.
