Ex-NFL Star Marion Barber Arrested For Tackling Moving Cars Which Got In His Way

Former NFL Pro Bowler Marion Barber was arrested for running into and wrecking two vehicles with his body while jogging.

Prosper, TX – A former National Football League (NFL) running back has been charged with causing thousands of dollars in damage to cars he ran into with his body while he was out jogging.

The incidents occurred on July 22 and July 23, 2018 when NFL Pro Bowler Marion Barber was out running in his neighborhood, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The first victim told police that she was pulling out of a parking lot near Main Street and Teel Parkway when a “very muscular man” with long dreadlocks, wearing red workout gear, came running toward her Volvo SUV.

She said the man intentionally ran into her SUV and then gave her a dirty look and kept running, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The arrest affidavit said that the 36-year-old Barber’s encounter with the Volvo caused $1,800 in damage to the left front wheel.

The affidavit said that when the woman reported the incident to police, the officer realized that the suspect might be the famous running back because he knew Barber lived nearby and had seen him running in that outfit, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Then a second woman contacted the authorities about a similar incident the same day with a suspect matching the same description.

She said she was waiting to turn onto Main Street from Kyser Way when a man ran into her Nissan SUV with his forearms, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The second victim told police that the jogger had stopped to curse at her and then continued on his way.

The affidavit said that the dents in the second vehicle “were remarkably similar to the dents" from the earlier incident the same day, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The damage to the Nissan SUV cost about $2,100 to repair, according to the affidavit.

A third woman later came forward and said that she had had a strange encounter with the angry jogger the prior day, the Dallas Morning News reported.

She told police that she was exiting the Dairy Queen parking lot when a man matching the former professional football player’s description jumped up onto her hood and ran across her vehicle “as if nothing was in his way,” and then jumped off and kept going.

No damage was done to the vehicle in that incident, according to the Dallas Morning News.

But on the evening of July 23, 2018, the same day the two vehicles were damaged, police contacted Barber in connection with a disturbance at his apartment, the Dallas Morning News reported.

During that encounter, Barber complained to police about “white women pulling their cars into the crosswalk when leaving parking lots” and mentioned that he had a “busted shoulder” without disclosing that he had wrecked himself into two SUVs earlier that day.

The affidavit said that Barber was evicted from his apartment later the same night, the Dallas Morning News reported.

He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief for damaging the vehicles.

The former NFL running back was booked into the county jail and later released on a $2,100 bond, the Dallas Morning News reported.

This was not Barber’s first unusual encounter with law enforcement.

In 2014, he was taken into custody in Mansfield and brought to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Barber made the Pro Bowl in 2007 and signed a seven-year, $45 million contract - $16 million of it guaranteed - with the Dallas Cowboys in 2008.

He spent the first six years of his career playing for the Dallas Cowboys and his last season with the Chicago Bears in 2011, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Barber finished his seven-year career with 4,780 yards rushing and 59 touchdowns.

His body may be in good shape but his brain not so much. It's a shame to have all that money but not the mental acuity to enjoy it.

Is this potentially the result of contact sport injuries ie repeated impacts? It also resembles behaviour on PCP? The narcotic association is only speculative obviously - he’s strong to begin with.

Something is not right with this guy! The first clues are his behavior and look at his eyes!!! I think he needs a brain scan and a mental health evaluation before things get worse.

Sad. NFL players used to be amazing examples of honor and integrity. Now they’re all just a bunch of asshole thug pieces of shit. The color of their skin has shit to do with it either. Shitbirds come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

The dumb drivers shouldn’t have pulled into the crosswalk. Pedestrians always have the right away. I woulda ran into their cars too if they got in my way because they weren’t paying attention to their surroundings and could have hit me and then what the story gonna be.
