Domestic Violence Warrant Issued For Lakers' DeMarcus Cousins

Mobile police issued a warrant for the arrest of NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins for threatening his ex-girlfriend.

Mobile, AL – An arrest warrant has been issued for the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) DeMarcus Cousins in connection with threats he recently made to the mother of his child.

The problem started because Cousins, who recently signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, wanted his seven-year-old son to attend his upcoming wedding to girlfriend Morgan Lang in Atlanta on Aug. 24, TMZ reported.

His ex-girlfriend, Christy West, recorded the NBA All-Star threatening her over the telephone and took it to the police.

"I'm gonna ask you this one more time before I take it to another level," the man alleged to be Cousins said on the recording. "Can I have my son here, please?"

"No,” West replied.

"I'm gonna make sure I put a bullet in your f--king head,” the man said in the recording.

West said that Cousins told her he would kill her “even if he didn’t have to get his hands dirty doing it,” TMZ reported.

So the ball player’s ex-girlfriend went to court in Alabama and got a restraining order against him.

West asked that Cousins be kept away from her and their son but said she would be open to him having supervised visitation with their son, according to TMZ.

Cousins and Lang were married in Atlanta on Saturday without his son in attendance.

Mobile Police Spokesperson Charlette M. Solis told USA Today that an arrest warrant had been issued on Thursday afternoon.

“No arrest has been made yet. Hopefully, he will turn himself in on the active misdemeanor arrest warrant,” Solis said, according to TMZ.

The municipal court website said that Cousins has been charged with third-degree harassing communications.

The charge is a Class A misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of one year in jail, USA Today reported.

NBA Spokesman Mike Bass said Tuesday that the team was aware and was “investigating the allegations,” USA Today reported.

In his nine-year career in the NBA, Cousins has made an estimated $84.6 million.

He signed one-year deal worth $2.3 million with the Los Angeles Lakers in the off season and then tore the ACL in his left knee in August, NBA.com reported.

Cousins was expected to miss the entire season as a result of the injury.

Dummy. Threatening on the phone like that.

Good thing he's not a cop, otherwise this woman might have been too afraid to report.

Though I do not condone any of this, is be pissed also, after all the hard ball, she tries to keep their son from being with the dad, (probably because she’s jealous of the new girl and she’s just being vindictive because SHE didn’t get the ring) I’ll bet she has no problem collecting his money every month. And on the flip side, he makes all that money and he still don’t know how to act. It all comes back down to roots and upbringing. Under all that skill, money and fame, is straight up trash attitude

Simply because someone SAYS something bad, does not place blame on roots and upbringing. If that were the case POTUS had some of the worst parent in America. And I am sure there has NEVER been an occasion that any of us has said something (when upset) that they would later regret. Because that would mean our roots and upbringing was trash.
