Clinton, MO - Three Clinton police officers were shot Tuesday night, and one of the officer succumbed to his injuries according to Missouri State Highway Patrol
The officers were attempting to
serve civil process paperwork at a home in the 300 block of West Grandriver Street just before 10 p.m. when a suspect opened fire and shot the officers, according to FOX4.
UPDATE: Authorities now say that the incident began as a 911 call with a woman screaming.
One officer has died while the other two are being treated for their injuries.
The suspect was initially believed to be barricaded in the home. Missouri State Highway Patrol has now announced that the suspect was located deceased in his home. It's not clear at this time if his death was self-inflicted.
Clinton has a population of around 9,000 people and this is the second officer they've had murdered in the past 7 months. Clinton Police Officer Gary Michael was murdered in August.
