Detroit, MI – A car that did donuts in the middle of a busy highway that was captured in a video that went viral covered its license plate with an obscene message to the Detroit Police Department.
And the city’s chief of police warned the culprits that his police officers will find the vehicle and seize it and turn it into a police vehicle, according to the Detroit Free Press.
A large, organized group stopped traffic on I-94 for about 15 minutes on Sunday in Detroit to make space for a Camero to spin around in circles, according to the Detroit Free Press.
"They're covering their license plates with a message to the DPD," said Detroit Police Chief James Craig, according to the Detroit Free Press. "I'm not going to tell you what that message is, but the message is despicable. Here's my message to them: We are going to find you, and when we do, we're going to arrest you, and we're going to seize your vehicle. In fact, my plan with the Challenger is we're going to keep it, we're going to seize it and we're going to convert it into a police car."
Craig continued: "You can go ahead and cover your license plates. We are going to come after you. That is a promise I'm making and the men and women of this department."
Police have a suspect in custody who was involved in stopping the traffic on I-94 but wasn’t in the car that spun around in circles, the Detroit Free Press reported.
Police have a good lead on the red or orange colored Camaro, according to Chief Craig. Police know that the person driving the Camaro lives outside the city. Other police agencies are working on locating people who were involved in the incident, the Detroit Free Press reported.
