Crystal Falls, Mich. - An Iron County deputy has submitted his letter of resignation after he allegedly took a Michigan State Trooper's patrol car and went on a joyride with friends and booze.
The trooper took the vehicle to Northland Automotive and Powersports in order to get the damage repaired.
Deputy Anthony Silva said he was at Northland Automotive and Powersports that night and decided to play a joke on the trooper.
According to WLUC, the deputy told investigators that he and two passengers drove the patrol car fast around Iron River and that he had three or four beers over two hours, and his passenger was drinking in the patrol car.
It's estimated that the patrol car was driven for about two miles.
After the investigation, Deputy Silva submitted a letter of resignation with two week notice. His last day will be Tuesday.
No charges have been announced at this time, but the Iron County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the incident for potential criminal charges.
