Delaware Trooper Murdered, Suspect Still Shooting At Officers

Bear, DE - A Delaware State Trooper was gunned down at a Wawa convenience store on Wednesday, and we have confirmed that the hero has died.

The trooper, whose identity was not immediately released, was shot just after noon off the Pulaski Highway in the town of Bear.

The trooper, whose identity was not immediately released, was shot just after noon off the Pulaski Highway in the town of Bear.

NY Post reports, Clarence Travers, told DelmarvaNow said he was sitting at a red light on the Pulaski Highway when he heard gunfire and saw the trooper fall to the ground. The man then got out of his are and shot the trooper repeatedly while he was down on the ground. The suspect then fled on foot.

Another witness said that they say the trooper face-down on the ground and that people nearby rushed over to give him CPR.

The trooper was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The suspect is now holed up in his house in house in the 500 block of St. Michaels Drive in the Brick Mill Farm Development where he is shooting at officers. Law enforcement is attempting to establish communication with him and hostage negotiators.

It's believed that the suspect is alone in his house. It looks like it's time to send in the bomb robot.

All area schools have now been placed on lockdown.

The Appoquinimink School District posted on facebook, “We have been notified by police that an armed individual is in the Dove Run Shopping Center. The police have set up a perimeter. As a precaution, ALL area schools have gone on lockdown.”

The University of Delaware Police said in a Facebook post, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Delaware State Police during this time. Please keep the Officer who was injured in your prayers.”
