Spotsylvania, VA – Spotsylvania County sheriff’s deputies rescued a man from an enraged father who had caught the 60-year-old family member locked in a bedroom with two young children and his pants off.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Dec. 29 when a father woke up early and went to check on his two-year-old and three-year-old children in their home located in the 6800-block of Luce Lane, WSET reported.
Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Captain Liz Scott said the father opened his children’s bedroom door and found 60-year-old Mark Stanley with his pants off, molesting the toddlers.
Capt. Scott said the father asked Stanley what he was doing and the older man pushed him out of the bedroom and locked the door, WSET reported.
Police said the enraged father forced his way back into the room and began beating Stanley.
Somebody inside the house called 911 and dispatchers could hear screaming in the background, WSET reported.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the father armed with a handgun and quickly approaching the man who allegedly molested his children, WJLA reported.
Deputies asked the father to drop the weapon and he complied, WSET reported.
Then they arrested Stanley, WJLA reported.
Capt. Scott said that deputies may have saved Stanley's life when they showed up to arrest him, WSET reported.
Investigators said that Stanley was in Spotsylvania County visiting family for the holidays.
He was transported to the hospital and treated for his injuries and then booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail, WSET reported.
Stanley has been charged with two counts of indecent liberties and one count of domestic assault.
He was being held in jail without bond, WSET reported.
Police said the father who caught Stanley with his children would not face any charges for beating the suspect before police arrived.
Both of the children were taken to the hospital to be evaluated and treated, WJLA reported.
It wasn’t known if they were awake during the incident.
