Cynthia Randolph Leaves Babies In Hot Car Until They Die To 'Teach Them A Lesson'
Fort Worth, TX - Cynthia Randolph, 24, was arrested on Friday for locking her 2-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son in her car until they died.
The incident originally happened May 26 when it was 96 degrees outside, according to NBC News. Cynthia Randolph's 2-year-old daughter, Juliet, and 1-year-old son, Cavanaugh, were found dead in a locked car in the driveway of her home.
Randolph told authorities that she had been folding laundry inside of her house while the children played outside. She said that when she didn't hear from them for half an hour, she searched and found them locked in her car along with her keys and cell phone.
She claimed that she broke out the window and called 911.
Her statements to investigators were inconsistent and she appeared to be fabricating a story. They were able to use her statements to establish probable cause to arrest her for two counts of causing in jury to a child.
After being arrested, Cynthia Randolph admitted to investigators that she had intentionally locked the children in the car. After locking the children in the car, Randolph went inside, smoked marijuana, and fell asleep for several hours.
"When they refused to leave the car, the defendant said she shut the door to teach Juliet a lesson, thinking she could get herself and her brother out of the car when ready," the probable cause statement said. "When she woke, the defendant found her children in her vehicle, unresponsive. The defendant said that she broke the car window to make it look like an accident."
Cynthia Randolph has been booked into Parker County Jail for killing her children.
