Richland County, SC – A school custodian was arrested after she stole cash out of the backpacks of three students while they were participating in National Walkout Day.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said that 32-year-old Aisha Evans helped herself to $180 from the book bags of Richland Northeast High School students who had left them in a classroom while they participated in the 17-minute walkout in protest of gun violence on Wednesday.
"Evans was employed by Service Solutions. Richland School District Two contracts with Service Solutions to provide custodial services at schools and offices in the district," Richland Two Spokesperson Libby Roof said.
"On Thursday, March 15, Service Solutions notified Richland Two that Evans is no longer an employee with the company and was informed that she cannot come on any Richland Two property,” Roof said.
Evans was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center for booking, according to WIS.
