Cop's Widow Furious About Racist Tweets From Philly DA's Spokeswoman

Murdered Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner's widow was outraged about racist tweets posted by Jane Roh.

Philadelphia, PA – The wife of murdered Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner is furious about a racist tweet posted by the district attorney’s spokeswoman on Friday.

The widow was in town on Oct. 4 to deliver a letter to Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office that asked the district attorney to recuse himself from the ongoing appeal of Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Abu-Jamal has already twice been convicted of murdering Maureen Faulkner’s husband more than 30 years ago.

“I left that first meeting willing to give you the opportunity to do the job you were elected to do, and I was cautiously optimistic that you would live up to the promises and commitments you made. Since then, you have failed us in virtually every sense,” Maureen Faulkner wrote in her letter to Krasner, according to KYW.

Outside of Krasner’s office, a crowd of more than 100 supporters gathered to hear what Officer Faulkner’s widow had to say as she held up a sign that said “Larry Krasner Is A Liar.”

“Mr. Krasner, I am asking you to voluntarily recuse yourself and anyone else in the District Attorney’s Office from my husband’s case immediately,” Maureen Faulkner announced, according to WHYY.

The widow has said that Krasner’s wife, Judge Lisa Rau, used to be a partner in the law firm that defended Abu-Jamal.

She also objected to the fact that a top deputy in the district attorney’s office once represented her husband’s killer, WHYY reported.

“You personally decided to have people who publicly advocated for the release of my husband’s killer on your transition team,” Maureen Faulkner said.

On Sept. 18, she asked the Superior Court to remove Krasner’s office from defending the guilty verdict against Abu-Jamal and asked them to have the state Attorney General’s Office represent the state’s interests in the case, and the District Attorney Office is fighting the request.

Shortly after Maureen Faulkner’s demonstration wrapped up, District Attorney’s Office Communications Director Jane Roh posted a picture of the protesters with caption that many characterized as racist.

“There’s something about this picture, can’t qwhite put my finger on it,” Roh tweeted, snarkily pointing out there were no white protesters in the photo.

She continued to make veiled racial references in the comments, including asking if the group had gone to Denny’s afterwards.

“It was racist, unprofessional and totally juvenile,” Maureen Faulkner told Philadelphia Magazine. “She should lose her job.”

“This is a disgrace,” the widow said. “If it was a racist comment about a black or brown person or an Asian person, it would have blown up. People would be marching in the streets about it. But because it’s a comment about white people, everybody lets it be.”

Maureen Faulkner said the district attorney’s spokeswoman’s tweet further undermined her faith in the District Attorney’s Office, Philadelphia Magazine reported.

“What is the mentality of the district attorney?” she asked. “This is a man who has lied to me over and over again. This is a man who has said that he wanted to weed out the white people from his office. Is the DA now racially profiling against white people? I just don’t trust him. And [Roh] needs to go.”

The official “Justice for Daniel Faulkner” Facebook page weighed in and called out Krasner’s spokeswoman for her “complete disregard for the sincerity and seriousness of the issues at hand.”

“What a disgrace. This was tweeted out by Jane Roh, who is the Director of Communications for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office. This racist tweet was posted immediately after the VICTIMS RALLY that was held in front of her office with Maureen Faulkner and the Philadelphia Police Union,” the post read.

Roh has since deleted her offensive tweet.

🤣🤣🤣 the Greatest Generation made it so you can lead the most comfortable lives this country has ever seen, and all you've done is make sure no one else has access.

Boomer generation is the first generation in this country to leave it worse than it was given to them, in just about ever category.

Jim H. - Virginia US

Not from my perspective. My dad did better than his dad, and I think I've done better than my dad.

It came down to mostly hard work and traditional values, but intelligence goes a long way too.

Every generation tends to get a much better standard of living. The problem is that young people today don't realize how difficult it used to be. They are the entitlement generation, where they expect everything to be free and instantaneous.

Think about it. Food, clothing shelter, health care, child labor, life expectancy, etc. Not sure what metric you are using, but why not let me know.

Hi_estComnDenomn
Hi_estComnDenomn

Anecdotal stories don't buck the trend. And it wasn't at all difficult for Boomers, because they were handed a country by the Greatest Generation.

And no thanks on finding the metrics for you. All everyone does on here is shit on the source, and not the information. I've given you all the key words and you're good at internet searching, so have fun.

You said comfort. To me, that means "standard of living."

I wasn't not asking for data, I was asking for a metric. If it's comfort (standard of living), fine, you're wrong.

Whatever, carry on. I think you have some integrity issues that need to be addressed.

Remember that old show "Married with Children" Am Bundy had a dead end minimum wage job but somehow his solo paycheck was enough to have a car and a rather large house. That was normal for your time. 1 parent worked and was able to provide for their family on a minimum wage job.

That's never been normal for any generation after you, so I'm not sure where you're getting that generations after you don't work as hard. You were handed your life on a silver platter. You as in the collective "you Boomers."

Jim H. - Virginia US

Oh garbage. What an entitlement attitude you have. Minimum wage jobs are for the unskilled and the very young.

When I was 13, I worked weekends with my dad moving office furniture. I made $5/hour, or $40 per day.

Throughout high school, after school I rode my bike miles to bag groceries for tips only, no salary.

In college, I was a full-time student, but I worked part time and got $8/hr doing engineering work. I got a 4.0 in my engineering major.

Then when I landed my first professional job, I got married and raised a family. My wife only worked baby sitting until we started our own family. I drove beaters, learned to fix absolutely everything myself, and did not waste money on stupid things like fancy phones or furniture, and bought stocks instead.

I am a self-earned 10%-er today as a result, and my kids are following in my footsteps, and the working one is already doing much better than I was doing at his age.

Ya know, even though I have tons of money now, my cell phone costs about $60 to buy, and $5 per month to keep active. Learn to change your own brakes, and you can save 80%. Stuff like that across the board. If one makes minimum wage, they need to learn these things, not beg for $15 per hour which will put millions out of work.

"Married with Children," please. You want free stuff, like so many today. Get a skilled blue collar job, and you can probably start at $40/hr in California, with benefits and 401k.

Hi_estComnDenomn
Hi_estComnDenomn

let's conservatively say you were 13, 50 years ago. That $40 a day then, is close to $300 a day now. a 13 year old earning $300 a day? That means he's making $37 an hour moving. What moving company do you know is hiring for $37 an hour?

Let's add 10 years to estimate when you were in college, where you earned $8 an hour. That's equivalent to about $28 dollars an hour today. Where do you see all these college students working part time making $28 an hour at?

LOL, if the kids today were making the kind of money you made in your day, they wouldn't be able to complain about having trouble making ends meet when many are still being paid the same wage you were paid 40 years ago.

Hi_estComnDenomn
Hi_estComnDenomn

you made relatively WAY above minimum wage all of your life compared to today, and you think $15 an hour would be enough to collapse the economy? $15/hour compared to when you were 13, would be about $2.15/hour. What was minimum wage when you were growing up? I bet it was higher than $2.15 an hour.

How much did the first car you ever bought cost?

Jim H. - Virginia US
Jim H. - Virginia US

There are too many flawed assumptions and "points" in your post for me to address them all. It's just more garbage.

First, I am significantly younger than you think.

All of your equivalent rates are seriously flawed. Your math stinks terribly.

Secondly, when I was employed as an office mover in Federal Buildings at the age of 13, I only worked weekends. It probably was overtime or whatever. I am sure that office movers in Federal Buildings make a decent living today IF THEY WORK HARD.

using a 3% inflation rate, $1 turns into $1.35 after ten years, and $1.80 after 20, and so on.

First car I bout cost $1600. I paid for it when I was 16 with my own money. I still own it.

You really have no clue. I am sorry, but you don't. It does not all come down to the flawed inflation numbers you use. You start low, work hard, and work your way up the ladder. If you work hard, you will always be above average, as most people are lazy. Average is above poverty. It's quite simple. If you are smart too, you can crush it.

You are a narcissist which is why you post constantly, so you can be the center of attention. You have cognitive empathy which means you are good at knowing what people care about, but as opposed to a normal person, your empathy does not translate into sympathy, you psychopathy turns it into sadism which shows in your constant confrontational responses. Really, you need mental help, you have an illness.

Hi_estComnDenomn
Hi_estComnDenomn

Why thank you, you're not the first person to mention my cognitive empathy. It comes with the territory of marketing.

Is that your roundabout way of saying i nailed you as a spinster?

Hi_estComnDenomn
Hi_estComnDenomn

Oh, alright. In order for me to get the right numbers, how old are you approximately? If you're embarrassed about telling me your age, I'm 34. And I didn't do the math. I put the numbers in an inflation calculator. Where are you getting your inflation numbers from?

And the amount of time you worked doesn't matter compared to rate. You were earning equivalent $37/hour at 13. Adult federal movers don't make nearly that much today.

In case the question got lost, how old are you, approximately? I'd like to update my numbers, but unless you're under the age of 40, i don't believe the numbers will change much.

I would still buy him a beer and have a chat with him. He's not dumb, and he generally treats me with respect.

If anything, I apologize to y'all for posting so many replies to him that are probably boring or even annoying for most people. And I end up feeling some slight guilt for making y'all suffer, but my skin is so thick, that I will sleep great anyway.

Based on the current social media standards (including 13 officers being terminated in Philadelphia for social media posts https://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2019/07/18/13-philadelphia-police-officers-to-be-fired-over-alleged-racist-facebook-posts-commissioner-says/), the only appropriate action is for Jane Roh to be immediately terminated from employment by the City of Philadelphia.

Any other actions shows a clear racist double standard.

I don’t get why the wife is upset with Krasner? Jamal deserves a defense and he got one. He was sentenced to death and the federal courts overturned the death penalty to life in prison without parole.

Krasner isn’t handling his appeal. I get her anger, but the system worked exactly how it is supposed to work.

I was handed nothing and had to scratch, claw, and dig my way to everything I have today. My first job paid me .90 cents an hour and I only worked 4 days a week part time. Out of my paycheck I had to make a car payment to my parents, pay the insurance premiums for the car, pay for gas, and any other related vehicle expenses. If I wanted something, I had to work for it, nothing was handed or given to me. Your argument is moot and doesn't hold water as each generation finds itself facing new challenges. Today's generation is more entitled than ever, yet I'm the one who's accused of white privilege. When my stepfather beat me so bloody I had to skip days of school, should I have considered myself privileged? Unlike my negro friends who scream for reparations, I have the scars on my back and hips to show from the beatings of my master, can you please show me yours?
