Cop Denied Service At McDonald's When Drive-Thru Clerk Saw His Uniform

A Palm Bay police officer says he was denied service once the drive-thru clerk saw he was a cop.

Palm Bay, FL - A Palm Bay police officer says that he was denied service at a McDonald's drive-thru on Friday when trying to order lunch.

Lieutenant Tim Lancaster said that he went to the McDonald's on Palm Bay Road and Babcock Street on Friday to get some lunch.

He said that he was in uniform, in an unmarked patrol car, as he went through the drive-thru.

"I ordered my lunch, paid at the first window and moved up to the second window to pick up lunch," Lieutenant Lancaster posted on his Facebook page. "When I got to the window, the clerk looked at me with my drink in hand and stopped."

"She handed my drink to another clerk and walked away in disgust," the 23-year veteran officer said. "I asked the other clerk what was wrong, she [stated] that the other clerk refuses to serve cops."

Lieutenant Lancaster said that the incident left him embarrassed and upset. The lieutenant said that he called the store and spoke to a manger who said that he would "address it."

"I will never eat at McDonald's again," the lieutenant said. "Never been treated like that before."

The manager at McDonald's referred any request for comment to corporate. Florida Today received a response from McDonald's corporate.

“We have respect for all first responders and are investigating,” a McDonald's spokesperson told Florida Today. “The behavior described in this Facebook post is unacceptable and not tolerated in our restaurants.”

The restaurant's manager, Omar Perez, would not confirm if they employee still works there.

How do you think that McDonald's should be handling this incident? We'd like to hear from you. Please let us know in the comments.

Unfortunately this crap seems fairly common. Might be people just don't care about another overpriced burger dispenser short circuiting.

If thats how they feel then police shouldnt have to respond to any calls there. They dont like cops then let them take care of the problem themselves!!!

If Mac Donalds corp or this manager want their stores in general and this store in specific to be known as anti-law enforcement then as we all know nature abhors a vacume and I'm sure what comes next is the criminal anti-officer crowd. Good luck with that CHOICE!

@Heezels we agree there. Cops should boycott McDonald's on general purpose. It'll be better for the country in general.

He has a right. It’s fast food and probably easier to get. You are right, it is awful.

The parent companies and local management of all consumer businesses (especially fast food) need to get in front of this and be sure all employees know that it will not be tolerated. Otherwise the reputation of the entire company is going to suffer. And it should!

So they lose a minimum wage job but they gain respect with all the thugs on the street. Get a job elsewhere and do it again. In the good ole days they just spit in our food when they saw us. I Never eat out in uniform.

Easy. Look up who or what cmpany owns that franchise. Find out if they own any other franchises, or business’. Put that info on all your social media multiple times a day, every day for a week or two. Done! Business will fire that employee & make clear to others what is a firable offense, or they will close their doors. Money or lack of is what business owners are concerned with. Many also have ethics & morals.

That's not fair. People who work there are hard working people. That wasn't a fair judgement of people who will humble themselves to work anywhere there's work!

It takes an individual with a seriously low IQ to discriminate against someone who would come to their rescue if they're the victim of a crime--on the plus side, at least the officer avoided eating food that could've been tampered with. At the end of the day, she should be fired, just like she should be fired if she were discriminating against anyone else.

All customers, no matter what their occupation may be, must be treated with respect. If an employee cannot do that, then they don't belong in that work place. I hold high respect to LEO (Law Enforcement Officers) for the jobs they do, it is not an easy one.

Just imagine if this idiot refused to serve blacks? Or Hispanics? They'd be out the door before they knew it. Hope that clerk is getting assaulted sometime and the cops refuse to help.

People, fast foods are the worst thing you can eat anytime, more so while you're working. Believe me, in a short time you'll see that the gun belt is starting to shrink.

As a LEO for almost 40 years, I only use the fast food, drive-thru when i didn’t have time to eat. I am happy to say that I never had any trouble but I sometimes did wonder if I should eat the food or not.
McDonalds, their hamburgers have changed. They are good anymore. Maybe more of that red slime they are using.

I always made a point, when in uniform, to only eat at the tiny fast food places where I could see my food being made. Besides that, back then we knew all the owners and servers that worked in those places. Feel sorry for you guys nowadays trying to get a meal without "extras."

"So if someone treats you poorly or you feel someone treats you poorly you should not use media to air your grievances and if you do you are a snowflake?"

Hi_estComnDenomn
Hi_estComnDenomn

@b1rd it's definitely a snowflake move. he ended up getting his food from another employee. No harm, no foul. He essentially reported to the news to say his feelings were hurt.

If i'm treated poorly somewhere, I leave and tell others not to patronize that business. Now, if someone threw hot coffee in the cops face or he watched someone spit in his food, that is abuse, and the word should get out.
