Colin Kaepernick's 'Sacrificing Everything' Nike Ad Gets Emmy Nomination

Nike's "Dream Crazy" ad with Colin Kaepernick was nominated for a 2019 Emmy award for outstanding commercial.

Los Angeles, CA – Former National Football League (NFL) quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s “Dream Crazy” Nike commercial was nominated for an Emmy award for outstanding commercial (video below).

“Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything,” was Kaepernick’s polarizing tagline in the advertisement.

Kaepernick's "sacrifice" is an apparent reference to the former NFL player's inability to get re-hired after voluntarily quitting the NFL.

The "believe in something," is an apparent reference to Kaepernick calling police officers murderers, and kneeling in protest to the American flag.

No NFL team has signed the former professional football player since he quit the San Francisco 49ers after kneeling on the field for the National Anthem during the 2016-2017 season.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick said.

The former football player even sported socks depicting police officers as pigs along with his Nike shoes on playing field.

Nike made Kaepernick the face of its “Just Do It” campaign in September of 2018, prompting backlash from numerous law enforcement and veterans groups who launched a boycott of the shoe brand.

“The choice of Colin Kaepernick by Nike to be 'the Face' of their 30th Anniversary Campaign is an affront to every American law enforcement officer," Blue Lives Matter's National Spokesman, Randy Sutton said at the time.

"Nike’s pandering to Kaepernick’s brand of politically correct hate mongering against those who serve this Nation behind a badge and the disrespect he has sown to the symbols of love of our country reveals how corrupt Nike has become," Sutton added. "When an organization is more concerned with profits than with the values of justice and service that thousands have given their lives to preserve, they reveal what they truly stand for....greed and dishonor.”

Kaepernick’s “Dream Crazy” commercial was nominated for a 2019 alongside ads from marketing giants Netflix and Apple, FOX News reported.

The add also featured athletic luminaries like Serena Williams, LeBron James, and Shaquem Alphonso Griffin juxtaposed against athletes who have faced tremendous challenges due to physical limitations, illness, or gender.

But despite Kaepernick’s elevated hero status thanks to the shoe company, he went after the brand during 4th of July week and claimed that Nike’s Independence Day shoe was racist and offensive.

The sneaker featured an early version of the American flag – known as the Betsy Ross flag – on the heels.

The American Revolution-era flag design dates back to the 1770s, and has a circle of 13 stars and stripes representing the original 13 colonies.

Nike posted images of the sneakers online ahead of their scheduled release, and had already shipped the shoes to retailers, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The company abruptly asked merchants to return the shipments of $140 shoes, but provided no explanation as to why.

“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured the old version of the American flag,” a Nike spokeswoman told The Wall Street Journal.

Numerous other shoe and apparel companies responded to the ridiculous scenario by quickly creating for sale numerous items that featured the Betsy Ross flag.

Even the Coalition of African American Pastors sent a letter to Nike and started a petition asking the shoe company to reinstate the cancelled patriotic shoe.

Joseph Murphy, a retired police officer who now runs patriotic apparel company Warrior 12, incorporates the flag in many of the company's shirt designs. (DISCLOSURE: Warrior 12 produces official Blue Lives Matter shirts and gear and the proceeds support Blue Lives Matter. )

Disgusted that an international brand continues to listen to Kaepernick about what Murphy calls "non-existent issues," he decided to release new shirts which incorporate both the Betsy Ross flag and support for law enforcement.

Warrior 12's Thin Blue Line Betsy Ross Flag

Murphy was outspoken immediately after he heard how Nike was disrespecting the Betsy Ross flag.

"There's nothing racist about this flag," Murphy explained to Blue Lives Matter. "The problem is that racial identitarians like Kaepernick tend to see everything through the lens of racism."

"It's getting to the point where any American who is proud of their country is being viewed as racist. It's madness," Murphy added.

"Unlike Nike, we're not going to cater to these race-obsessed wackjobs," Murphy said.

I agree with you. I am so sickened by how far, (and how disgraceful) spoiled people will go to disrespect our great Country and our Countries Protecters

I've never purchased a Nike product, and it has nothing to do with Kaeperdick. Their products suck, and always have. Some how they managed to convince a lot of people to spend over a hundred dollars for ill-fitting sneakers and clothing. I really have to wonder why a company would intentionally alienate half their customer base by supporting someone as polarizing as Kaeperprick? I guess they are trying to appeal to blacks who are willing to spend a lot of money for the honor of wearing the swoosh symbol.

By the way check some of his causes along with his girlfriend. Joanne Chesimard is someone they admire along with Castro. Do some background research and you'll see they're outrageous stands on American values.

yeah this Kaepernick is really a great one. since he's in such solidarity with the so-called black community, I'm wondering if we should 2nd the motion that his own BLACK father had taken...

He took the baby Colin from his white mother, and because he was so Furious that the baby wasn't a darker shade like he was, he walked up to a dumpster, and threw him in...

That is why the baby boy who grow up to be the spoiled baby of a man was placed into the adoption system ..

Nike has been a big part of my life for many years. It's a shame the company lowered it's standards to this PIG representative! This is why I have not, nor will never buy another item with the brand on it! He also needs to be sent to some third world country!

Nike needs to be brought to it's knees ! They don't deserve the American people since they don't represent or appreciate the "American" people. Soldiers have fought to give Kaperdick his freedoms and police offers have done their jobs to protect dick heads like Kaperdick even when wrong. People die, some unjustly and yet some deservedly so. Nike sucks as bad as kaperdick for putting down America and Americans. Lord have mercy on my soul but please show Kaperdick his way Out !

“Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything.”

That would be the armed forces and civilians who fought for this country...those who truly sacrificed everything. EVERYTHING! In other words, not you.

I designed a special pair of sneakers for Nike and they rejected it. Called it the Kaepernick shoe with an insignia of an asshole on the back, and they didn't seem to like it. I still can't figure it out....it fit his persona perfectly!

50 years ago I was a kid at a fourth of July parade in a small town. A man in a wheelchair was on the sidewalk next to me. He had one leg, one arm and one eye. When the parade got under way a marching band with our flag stopped in front of us and started to play our anthem everyone who was sitting stood up and I watched the man in the wheelchair struggle to stand. After a few seconds he started to shake. I was afraid he was going to fall. I stood closer to him so I could catch him if he did fall. He looked down at me and told me he was going to make it. When the anthem ended and the flag passed by, he fell back into his wheelchair. I could see he was crying and I ask him if he was ok. He said, “I get emotional when I see the flag and think of all my buddies that didn’t make it home.” I still think about that day Colin. Without that man and his buddies you would be eating your own boogers for dinner in some shithole right now. So take a knee Colin, you make us proud.

People that don't deserve awards get them all the time Obama won the Nobel Peace prize, Time Magazine named Hitler man of the year and now 3rd string QB is getting an Emmy nomination. You know what these three have in common? They all hate select group of people and ruined nation's.
