Gilroy, CA - An active shooter opened fire on a crowd at the Gilroy Garlic Festival Sunday evening.
Gilroy City Council member Dion Bracco has said that there are 3 confirmed dead, 12 confirmed wounded, and a suspect is in custody, according to the New York Times.
Officers continue to treat the scene as active. Bracco said that "they don’t know if there were more, so they have to treat it as an active situation."
UPDATE: The suspect is dead, with a possible second suspect at large. Three people are dead and 15 others injured.
The shooting started at around 5:30 p.m. as the festival was wrapping up its third day at Gilroy's Christmas Hill Park.
No information has been released about the shooter's identity or his motivation at this time.
Bystanders took cell phone video as they fled from the gunfire.
