@pinkejon, you keep mentioning guns are the main cause of police deaths, and you're relating it to this story. However, the average cop killer doesn't look like anyone in this story. the average cop killer, especially for the last handful of years, is a white man in his 30s. If you'd like to see the data, let me know and I'll post it.

Given that the average cop killer isn't urban (white people language for "black"), how did Obama and BLM or any other group you mentioned persuade white men to kill more cops with guns?

I'll also remind everyone reading this that cop deaths due to violence overall are lower and have been dropping for decades. @pinkejon has said that cop gun death is on the rise, something I haven't verified for myself yet.

I will concede that I was long on emotion and short on the strictly logic-based analysis I use as a default. The reason? Every night I watch as my husband straps on gun, Taser, handcuffs, baton, bullet-resistant (no vest is bullet "proof"), and badge to leave out our safe home and patrol the unsafe streets. So it's definitely emotional to speak of line-of-duty murders. And I use the word murder purposefully. Line-of-duty deaths are tragic but those are unfortunately reality (car wrecks, accidental, heat/cold related, etc) Iive with.

@Hi_estComnDenomn I'm replying for myself and @pinkejon (feel free to also add your thoughts Pinkejon!) The discussion was that PJ gave stats about police line of duty deaths and your reply was about gun control. There are so many comments here so context was needed. My response:

Since the guns used to kill these officers were already illegally obtained, how could stricter gun laws (which would only affect law-ABIDING citizens) make a difference?

There are some individuals who simply want to protect themselves as they live in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the US. If they are good people of good character, I sympathize with their situation. However, if carrying illegally, they should not resist arrest or try to draw on police...that is just asking for a shootout. The real problem is the community that spreads false rumors and demonizes the police. That affects an entire community, and not just individuals.

@pinkejon it sounds like your solution would be stricter gun control then. correct me if i'm wrong.

and since we're on the subject of presidents promoting racism, i'll use your logic. after endorsing a number of white nationalists running for office, you should also assert that Trump is an open-door racist, correct?
