Bullied Boy's Mom Showed Up To Bus Stop With Gun, Claims It's A Misunderstanding

A mother received a text from her 11-year-old son on a bus that he was being bullied and showed up with a rifle.

New London, NC – A mother received a text message from her 11-year-old son that he was being bullied on a bus and showed up at the bus stop with a rifle.

The mother was caught on camera with the semi-automatic rifle but said she meant no hard, according to WSOC.

She claimed that before the bus arrived, there were dangerous animals coming out of the woods near where she lived so she grabbed her gun.

"If they were here they would have seen coyotes on my property," the mother said according to WSOC. "I was scaring coyotes off. When I was coming back up to my house is when the bus pulled up."

The bus driver called the mother over to talk to her about what occurred on the bus and the mother still had the rifle in her hands. The mother said that’s when someone recorded her.

"I would not hurt nobody else's child because I wouldn't want it done to my child," the mother said, whose name was not released by the TV station.

According to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Department, the mother didn’t assault anyone. She also didn’t point the gun at anyone or make any threats. Police said the woman would not be charged, according to WSOC.

"Obviously we're gonna suggest no one take a gun to a bus stop to pick up a child, but as far as criminal we can't find a crime here," Stanly County Sheriff’s Captain Chris Huneycutt told WSOC.

A Stanly County Schools spokesman for the school district said that it took appropriate action against the bully on the bus, according to Yahoo.

Stanly County Schools Superintendent Jeff James told Yahoo that the mother said she forgot she was carrying a gun. James said it was not fair to upset the students.

As a person who open Carrie's most of the time. As long as she showed zero intention of it being used as a motivation then no harm no foul. I live on 20 plus acres and can be seen with a rifle or handgun on predators quite alot. I have chickens ducks and turkeys and small children. I think she should have laid it down when getting near the bus stop but then I'd be worried about someone grabbing it if others were around. So... it's hard to say if she was even in the wrong.

THIS is what happens when the school FAILS to enact rules and regulations against bulling, etc. I am NOT approving of this but some people just get fed up and have no other alternative. She was wrong in doing this but ask yourself,,,if the schools don't do something what is a parent to do? sad situation all around

School bus drivers are not police or faculty and have no authority against verbal bullying. It is what it is.

I'm not sure how you forget you're carrying a rifle though.

Dont agree with her actions one bit, shit like that gives the ainti gun a$$holes ammo. Now if the bus had a turn a round route on her property I'd feel better about it but I assume it was on rd frontage off main highway. Shit like that is uncalled for in my opinion and I'm a huge advocate for gun rights. Paints a real ugly picture, kids on bus taking photos, if kid is getting bullied take it out on school officials.
