BREAKING: US Marshals Fatally Shoot Suspect Wanted For Attempted Murder Of Cop

U.S. Marshals fatally shot a suspect wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer on Wednesday.

Morgantown, WV – U.S. Marshals fatally shot a man wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer in downtown Morgantown on Wednesday.

The incident occurred just after 12 noon on March 6 when Morgantown police responded to calls about shots fired near College Avenue and Falling Run Road, nearby West Virginia University’s (WVU) downtown campus, WBOY reported.

Morgantown PD and WVU police responded to the scene.

Authorities have not released the name of the suspect who was shot, according to WBOY.

No members of law enforcement were injured during the incident, U.S. Marshals said.

"The Morgantown Police Department is the lead investigative agency on this incident,” Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Alex Neville said, according to WBOY. “The U.S. Marshals Service will also conduct an internal review after the Morgantown PD completes its investigation.”

“As a matter of policy, the U.S. Marshals Service will not release the names of deputy marshals involved in shooting incidents, until the conclusion of all investigations surrounding the incident,” Marshal Neville said.

Streets were shut down around the area and alerts were sent out to students at the university and nearby residents warning them to avoid the area, as streets remained closed into the late afternoon.

The alerts caused some confusion amongst students who were unclear as to why they were being told to be careful but classes were not cancelled.

Police have declared the scene clear and students were being urged to return to normal activities, WBOY reported.

“We are monitoring this developing situation,” the university said in a statement. “However it’s important to note that it did not occur on the WVU campus. University Police is assisting Morgantown Police. Out of an abundance of caution, we are sending alerts, posting to social media and keeping our campus community updated as we confirm information.”

Yeah I’m gonna take a wild guess and chalk this one up to the “good job, but why the fuck would we not like this” category.
