Detroit, MI - Two Detroit police officers were shot near Six Mile Road on Saturday night.
CORRECTION: One officer shot, two more wounded. Updates below.
While officers were near Greenfield and Six Mile Road, a gunfight broke out, according to WXYZ.
Details about what led up to the gunfight have not yet been released.
Two officers were shot in the exchange, along with the suspect.
The suspect was able to flee to a nearby apartment building where it's believed he's barricaded at the time of this writing.
The unidentified wounded officers have been transported to the hospital and their conditions have not been released.
UPDATE: The incident started when officers confronted a suspect driving the wrong way in an alley.
The suspect backed his car into the officers, pinning two officers between their car and the suspect's car, according to Chief James Craig.
The suspect then shot another officer while fleeing, and was shot 5 times as officers returned fire.
The suspect fled and was located after officers followed his trail of blood. He is now at the hospital in critical condition.
The wounded officers are in stable condition.
